At SMS Equipment, our Manager, Controls & Processes is responsible for providing financial, operational and sales support through detailed analysis of specific business issues, offering solutions to improve business processes and managing and leading the JSOX Compliance Process and Operational Testing.

This position offers a hybrid work arrangement.

The salary range for this position is $110,000 - $120,000.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for managing JSOX compliance practices which includes designing and the testing of internal controls, policies and processes.
  • Responsible for the designing of testing scripts and the executing the scripts
  • Preparing Financial control reports for management
  • Reporting and identification of business process gaps and the creation of action plans and providing recommendations to improve process
  • Annual reporting and presentation for shareholders on internal control activities
  • Working with the business to understand their areas in need of process improvement,
  • Identifying opportunities to improve the control environment, make recommendations as needed regarding policies and procedures and work with process owners to implement and maintain changes

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have a post-secondary education in finance and/or accounting combined with a CA/CPA designation. Additional requirements include:

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in accounting or finance field with a focus on internal control
  • Previous experience designing testing scripts and executing the scripts
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing financial control reports for management
  • Previous experience with process improvement practices
  • Previous experience with Finance and IT process and controls testing is an asset
  • Critical thinking, inquisitive and analytical skills to understanding of business and their process improvement opportunities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders
