At SMS Equipment, our Technical Parts Inventory Analyst is responsible for providing inventory analysis, reporting and maintenance of SMS Parts Inventory. The Technical Parts Inventory Analyst will proactively research, recommend and implement enhancements to the parts department for functionality and efficiency. This position is in Acheson, AB.

This position offers a hybrid work arrangement.

The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $82,000.

Responsibilities include but are not limited too:

  • Collaborate with the management team to develop reasonable annual objectives for the parts department efficiencies and monitor progress and results.
  • Undertake technical parts analysis projects in conjunction with product support and corporate service to ensure alignment on targets.
  • Create and maintain recommended spare parts lists for broad range equipment makes and models.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs for the parts area to ensure that trends are managed as related to total parts inventory value, parts margins, inventory turns, aged/obsolescence inventory, parts order fill rates, purchase order fill rates, etc.
  • Analyze and recommend medium to long term plans for investments to support business strategies.
  • Develop procedure and liaise with branches on warehouse and parts department functions to ensure consistency across all SMS branches.
  • Order and monitor inventory for corporate parts support.
  • Ensure proper systems maintenance for parts master files and quality control.
  • Identify surplus inventory and opportunities for consumption to limit aging.
  • Limit excess inventory by identifying and communicating alternate and replacement like parts.
  • Maintain consignment inventory data base and contract adherence.
  • Act as a solutions provider and a source for general parts support and process training.
  • Assists in generating, developing and maintenance of required reports.
  • Other projects/duties as required.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess a high school diploma plus a minimum of 3 years parts counter experience in a construction and/or mining environment. Other requirements include:

  • 2 years of data analysis experience.
  • Red Seal Parts Technician certification would be an asset.
  • Managing parts and inventory control experience is an asset.
  • Extensive knowledge of parts counter, inventory and warehousing processes.
  • Knowledge of mining and construction equipment systems including, but not limited to undercarriage, attachments, and ground engaging tools.
  • Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a wide variety of individuals and groups.
  • Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals.
  • Advanced Microsoft Suite skills including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with Power BI is advantageous.
