What can you expect?

The Journeyman Plumber works in a high-functioning work environment, providing support to operating departments with respect to all plumbing or gas related needs within the Sunshine Village facilities. They also assist where applicable with any other building maintenance needs. Journeymen Plumbers are focused on safety, efficiency, and being approachable and courteous. The Journeymen plumber reports to the Building Maintenance Supervisor or designate, liaising frequently with Operations, other Maintenance departments and contractors.

Respond to plumbing/gas related needs in all Resort areas e.g., boilers and heating systems, buildings, lifts, associated sites, while always maintaining and contributing to a safe and efficient workplace e.g., performing inspections, disassembly, assembly, and cleaning of equipment and responsible areas.

Administrative and Reporting Responsibilities:

    • Timely completion of documentation e.g., daily checks and reports, assigned logs, daily reports, maintenance logs, inventory counts, worksite inspections, safe work plans, permits.
    • Communicating unusual operating conditions e.g., mechanical, operational, environmental.
    • Communicating and adhering to company initiatives and policies, relevant legislation, and manufacturer requirements e.g., OHS, Building/Fire codes, AHS, Canada National Parks Act.
    • Timely and accurate reporting of all incidents and deficiencies to appropriate departments/personnel.

Other duties may be requested and assigned from time to time.

And you have:

  • Journeyman plumber/gas fitter certified in Alberta.
  • Valid Alberta vehicle operator's license.
  • Must have a positive, mature, and friendly attitude along with being neat, alert, punctual and dependable.
  • Willing/able to perform all duties or departmental tasks.
  • Prepared to work flexible schedules e.g., weekends, holidays, nights, extended hours.
  • Prepared to work outdoors in all weather conditions e.g., appropriate footwear, layers, gloves.
  • Calm under pressure and patient.
  • Effectively communicate in English, both written and verbally and in a confidential capacity.
  • Maintain professional conduct when acting as a company representative on or off duty, and online.
  • Effectively provide training, support, and assistance to coworkers.
  • Attend and actively participate in meetings and training.
  • Must own basic set of tools appropriate for the position.

Additional considerations:

  • Employees must always be of sound mind, exhibit good judgment, and report to work fit for duty.
  • Requires standing/walking for long periods of time, trunk rotation, frequent lifting (up to 25kg), pushing/pulling (up to 45 kg), kneeling, crouching. Routinely climb inclined stairs up to 5m or work at heights up to 15m, hike and move around in an alpine environment.
  • This role maintains/operates machinery, off road/highway vehicles, and works around moving equipment.
  • This role maintains and operates hand/powered tools/equipment
  • Candidates may be required to provide their own transportation to the resort.
  • Candidates are required to provide and maintain CSA approved safety footwear.
  • Required uniform pieces (liner, jacket, pants, toque/hat, collared shirt, polo) are provided.
  • This role has potential exposure to industrial/pool chemicals, electrically energized systems.

This role is subject to all terms and conditions of the Sunshine Village Employee Handbook and Policy Manual, and the Alberta Employment Standards Code.
