About this opportunity:
The job’s main purpose is to coordinate and prepare compliant pipeline and facility licensing applications and audit packages, in addition to supporting other team members through mentorship and coaching, providing regulatory guidance and advice to internal and external team members across the organization, and leading special regulatory projects and initiatives. The job is best suited for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and deadlines and mentoring and guiding others.
What you’ll do:
Prepare accurate and compliant pipeline and facility license applications for the full asset lifecycle including new construction, operations and maintenance activities, and abandonment projects
Complete technical reviews and compile application audit documentation to confirm all regulatory requirements are met or exceeded
Provide regulatory guidance and advice to internal and external stakeholders throughout the business to ensure compliance and mitigate potential risk
Research and interpret ambiguous regulatory requirements to make informed decisions and recommendations to the business
Liaise closely with regulatory bodies to build relationships and stay informed of existing and emerging issues, and advocate and promote corporate strategy
Conduct regulatory change monitoring and provide interpretation and change management recommendations
Provide technical and advisory support to industry groups (e.g. CAPP)
Identify process improvements and develop and implement effective long-term solutions
Who you are:
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:
Legally authorized to work in Canada
Post-secondary education in engineering or relevant field
4+ years’ experience in the oil and gas industry, experience with pipeline and facility licensing and associated regulatory requirements in Alberta and Saskatchewan (British Columbia, Manitoba, and Canada Energy Regulator considered an asset)
Solid understanding of the AER’s DDS and OneStop systems and the MER’s IRIS system (system equivalents in other jurisdictions are an asset - Kermit, AMS, etc.)
Experience with Accumap, Abadata, Petrinex, SharePoint, Spotfire, and Power BI
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a track record of effective project and process implementation
Strong business insight and big picture approach to decision making
Strong communication skills and experience training and guiding others
Organized and effectively prioritizes tasks to meet deadlines
