The Opportunity
SAIT's Athletics and Recreation department is hiring part-time hourly staff to support our services as Wellness Centre Assistants. The Wellness Centre Assistants contribute to student engagement and the competitive aspirations that make up a larger SAIT experience. The Wellness Centre houses our Fitness & Studios, Temporary Gymnasium, Cohos Commons Soccer Pitch, a variety of Physical Training or Lifting amenities and a new ESports studio. Wellness Centre Assistants support Trojans Varsity and Intramurals.
The Role
Customer Service (Front of House)
Wellness Desk Reception and Stakeholder Communications
Campus Center Gatekeeping, Audio Support, Equipment Controls
Provide customer service to all those entering the Wellness Centre
Reception duties including telephone and online interactions
Performs required set-up for room bookings which may include lifting or moving of light furniture (chairs, overhead projectors).
Assisting members and responding to member questions
Laundry Service and Locker/Change room duties as required
Inventory controls for all Sport Programs and Activities
Equipment set-up, takedown, sign-out as required by facility users
Professional appearance, communications and client interactions
Problem solving and escalations of conflict as required
Banner access, processing and general membership reporting
Facility Stewardship (Campus Center)
Cleaning and maintaining exercise equipment
Fitness studio and Lifting Center stocking, racking and sanitizing
Open doors, lock up spaces, create safe and welcoming environment
Taping Room & Squash Court minor cleaning as required
ESport studio servicing and monitoring as required
Compliance (Programming, Sport Amenities, Finance)
Financial transactions, sales and petty cash handling
Registration processing and promotion
Equipment rentals, Sign-out, inventory, storage
Address Health, Safety & Environment expectations and identifying risks
Work in accordance to Respect in the Workplace certification
Contribute as part of a team of part-time workers made up of both student and non-student communities.
Support all Activity programs as required including Drop-in and Free Play
Technical Skills and Safety
Working knowledge of Fitness equipment, Audio/Video and related operating procedures and cleaning protocol
Trouble shooting and problem solving as required
Provide Fitness equipment orientations as requested
Comfortable with First Aid training and responses as required
Work in accordance to Alberta Health & Safety regulations
Collaboration
Support the facility booking and related customer interface as organized by the team in Conference Services
Provide support to the Facilities Management department as requested
Enhance all program support as a team member of Trojans Athletics & Recreation
Other collaborative duties as assigned
Qualifications
Completion of the 12th grade or an equivalent combination of experience and education
Previous customer service experience
First Aid and CPR considered an asset
Respect in Sport considered an asset
Knowledge of the layout of the Campus Centre and of the rules and regulations governing it
Ability to deal tactfully with the public and student body
Ability to notice and report anything out of the ordinary which might result in loss or damage to property
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Students preferred
