WHAT YOU WILL DO

Reporting to the General Manager, Supply Chain and Inventory, the Buyer is responsible for the execution of all purchase orders at YYC as well as the management of the requisition to purchase process. The Buyer will work closely with all members of the Supply Chain team and assist in day-of duties including expediting orders, follow-up on delivery and review of discrepancies.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Manage the requisition to purchase order process and ensure service level agreements and compliance are achieved.
  • Follow Procurement policy to ensure proper signing authority, limits and documentation are followed to meet purchase order guidelines.
  • Help minimize out-of-process activities and ensure all such occurrences are appropriately documented and justified (i.e., buying from a vendor with a credit card.)
  • Place appropriate orders to ensure product availability that meets customer needs.
  • Supply management: connecting to and managing supplier relationships for the purpose of ordering.
  • Vendor sourcing and selection.
  • Manage internal process of formally getting approval to order a product for fulfilment and requisitions for stocked items as necessary.
  • Create and utilize daily reports for the buying team to evaluate ordering priorities through MRP and Late PO Reports.
  • Responsible for the issuing and processing of purchase orders and the procurement of a wide range of goods and services for the ongoing 24/7/365 operation of the airport.
  • Obtaining quotes from supplier for goods and services and issue purchase orders to the selected contractor.
  • Other duties as required including, but not limited to, assisting the Supply Chain team with Monthly Cycle inventory counts and Year-end inventory count, arranging transportation of goods from transportation providers and, providing administrative support to Supply Chain team as required.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • 3-6 years of relevant business experience in an environment of similar scope and complexity.
  • Relevant purchasing certification or working towards it or a university degree in Supply Chain or Business Administration is required.
  • Experience managing varied sourcing goods and services.
  • Experience partnering with clients and working in teams.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a customer centric environment.
  • Demonstrated capabilities in communication, planning, and execution of sourcing assignments.
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to discuss technical terms and specifications with subject matter clients.
  • Ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts between clients and contractors, proponents, and others.
  • Ability to provide training to assigned and expanded client group, including defending procedures and processes as required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and orally.
  • Ability to self-start and work individually and in a team environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Procurement practices.
  • Understanding of methods and best practices related to the areas of:
    • Supply chain management.
    • Buying/procurement.
    • Knowledge of shipping and payment terms as well as tax and duties.
    • Shipping and receiving policies and procedures.

WHAT ELSE

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a restricted area identification card (RAIC).
