We are seeking top-tier talent to join our Corporate Services team and support our construction operations by applying your expertise to various Corporate Services business initiatives. Reporting to Senior Category Manager, Category Specialist is accountable for developing supply chain category management strategies and solutions for various operational spend categories (materials and services) to leverage Graham spend and reduce risks. While focusing on the requirements of internal stakeholders, the incumbent delivers a better value supply chain by embedding category strategies into projects, ensuring supply chain solutions are delivered through an alignment of operational procurement requirements and category management principles. The incumbent manages Master Services Agreements (MSAs) for materials and services provided to various business units, ensuring financial savings and performance improvements through a strategic approach to supply chain management.

This role is based in our Calgary Corporate office with hybrid (2 days Office, 3 days home) work schedule.

As a Category Specialist at Graham, you will:

  • Support Senior Category Manager in delivering agreed upon objectives.
  • Adhere to Graham processes, standards, and procedures.
  • By leading cross functional teams, develop and implement supply chain category management strategies which meet internal stakeholders' requirements.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand internal client requirements and implement the most appropriate supply chain solutions.
  • Conduct RFx events.
  • Negotiate, draft, execute, and implement MSAs with key suppliers/service providers to support business unit requirements.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to promote MSAs across the organization.
  • Category spend data mining and analysis using Excel and Power BI.
  • Deliver targeted savings/cost avoidance/rebates.
  • Assume accountability for the cost reduction and performance of the supply chain in assigned categories.
  • Act as the liaison between internal stakeholders and key suppliers/service providers.
  • Monitor and manage supplier performance by conducting regular vendor relationships meetings.
  • Demonstrate HSE and Quality behaviors that reflect corporate expectations of Actively Caring and Road to Zero.
  • Demonstrate business professionalism that is in line with Graham's core values of commitment, integrity, and reliability
  • Willingness to problem-solve complex issues finding an effective supply chain solution that works for all stakeholders involved.
  • Prepare and support the placement of subcontract and material supply orders.
  • Other related tasks.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or technical field.
  • SCMP designation or pursuit of SCMP is an asset.
  • 5-8 years of progressive experience in supply chain with exposure to Strategic Sourcing or Category Management.
  • Ability to independently conduct RFx events, including but not limited to RFx drafting and issuance, supplier selection and evaluation, and contract award recommendation.
  • Knowledge of tender and contract procurement practices and processes.
  • Ability to independently draft contracts/amending agreements.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to address internal client concerns in a timely manner.
  • Strong relationship management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to operate under pressure and meet tight and demanding deadlines.
  • Proficiency using a computer and Microsoft Office, Power BI. Advanced Excel knowledge. SAP knowledge is a plus.
  • Most of the work is completed at the corporate office, however occasional travel may be required.
  • The incumbent is exempt from overtime.
