The opportunity

  • Use Autodesk (AutoCAD, Civil 3D) and Bentley (MicroStation, Power InRoads) software to design and detail sites, roads, drainage systems, utilities as well as site grading and earthworks
  • Research and apply codes, specifications, and standards for design of the above elements
  • Coordinate with other teams to apply skills in delivering sustainable outcomes
  • Apply understanding of all phases of the planning, design, and construction process
  • Research requirements of regulatory environment for gaining approval at different stages of project delivery
  • Engage with project collaborators and clients to develop designs that meets needs and concerns
  • Support development of technical documentation including reports, presentations, memos, calculation packages, and specifications

Required:

  • Completing bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, or relevant engineering degree
  • Sound knowledge of civil engineering fundamentals
  • Experience with CAD software
  • Professional demeanor
  • Good interpersonal crucial for team-based working
  • Ability to perform in a deadline driven environment
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Excellent planning and organization skills required for our fast-paced environment
  • Must be highly motivated, proactive, and willing to address new challenges
  • Curiosity about Transportation Infrastructure projects
  • Candidate must be eligible to work in Canada without the need for employer sponsored work authorization now or in the future to be considered for this role

Preferred:

  • Eligible to become a member of the PEO/OIQ/APEGA
  • Proficient with civil engineering design and analysis tools for roads, rail and/or water systems
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software
  • Evidence of past internship or extracurricular activity in the field
  • History of technical presentations and technical writing
  • Evidence of personal investment in academic or extracurricular field

Calgary Hiring Range – The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Calgary is $21.00 to $33.00 per hour. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Calgary will differ.
