Who we're looking for:

We are excited to help build a great digital future for Canadians, and we are looking for creative thinkers, problem solvers, and motivated individuals to help us deliver on our commitments. As a Civil Engineering Specialist, you bring experience across a wide variety of projects in the telecommunications industry and have a passion for problem-solving and creative solutions. If the following appeals to you, we want to hear from you.

What you'll do:

  • Review technical scope documents, including FCDs (Final Cell Designs), Civil Subs, Microwave Designs, and other EDSs (Engineering Design Specifications), ensuring alignment with project requirements and Rogers' standards.
  • Define the scope by selecting an EOR (Engineer of Record), requesting engineering and quotes (RFQs). Review quotes and budgets, then submit them for PO issuance to the Rogers Project Coordinator.
  • Review the most recent site visit and audit report. Request a new audit report from the civil design contractor if necessary, and review assessment reports for rooftop sites.
  • Analyze Structural Tower Assessment (STA) reports for tower sites. Initiate rework and re-analysis if load requirements are not met. Coordinate design updates and quote requests from the civil design contractor, then issue POs.
  • Review engineering designs and drawings to ensure compliance with CSA S37:24 and Rogers National Standards, and verify they are stamped/authorized by a Civil Professional Engineer.
  • Perform quality checks by verifying the completeness of CWO/CDP (Civil Work Order/Construction Design Package), ensuring they align with Rogers' standards and guidance.
  • Facilitate internal (Real Estate, RF Engineering) and external (Landlord) stakeholder review and sign-off, providing clarification as needed.
  • Compile documents, including all printouts and reports, into one PDF CWO or CDP document.
  • Issue and distribute new CWO/CDP documents. Update CWO/CDP as required and distribute packages within internal systems.
  • Update project management tools and trackers, including SharePoint and ADM (Rogers' Project Management Tool) systems.
  • Respond to queries regarding CWO/CDP drawing material issues, address Network Implementation construction queries, and resolve Real Estate and Landlord design queries.
  • Accept completed work by OLR (Online Receiving) in Rogers' internal systems.
  • Review and initiate As-Built and PCI (Pre-Construction Information) reports, coordinating deficiency corrections with the construction team.
  • Attend meetings and calls with NI (Network Implementation), RE (Real Estate), EOR (Engineer of Record), and review the NI plan, providing ETAs.

What you bring:

  • A Civil Engineering Technology education background or a related educational experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in Civil Engineering within Telecom or a related field.
  • Project management experience/knowledge is an asset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong teamwork and collaboration abilities.
  • Proven ability to work in cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Innovative and creative thinking, problem-solving abilities, adaptability, and initiative.
  • Proven ability to multitask and stay organized to meet tight deadlines.
