The Opportunity

SAIT is seeking an experienced Construction Contract Manager to join our team and support the construction of significant infrastructure projects, including the Taylor Family Campus Center and the John Ware Revitalization. Reporting to the Manager, Contract Management and Insurance, the successful candidate will lead the development, negotiation, and administration of construction contracts, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, commercial terms, SAIT policies, and project specifications. This is a key role in managing risks and ensuring the successful execution of these large-scale projects.

As a Construction Contract Manager, you will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including legal teams, insurance, project team, and contractors, to manage contract conversion and execution alongside project execution. The Role

    • Lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of construction contracts, subcontracts, and change orders.
    • Collaborate with insurance teams to ensure proper coverage for project risks.
    • Ensure contracts protect SAIT's interests and comply with laws and regulations.
    • Evaluate and manage relationships with key contractors, suppliers, and service providers to ensure the best terms and outcomes for SAIT.
    • Work closely with project managers, legal counsel, and external stakeholders to finalize contract terms.
    • Develop and manage a comprehensive contract management strategy, including conflict resolution and claims avoidance.
    • Identify and mitigate risks and liabilities associated with contracts.
    • Conduct regular reviews of contract terms to ensure compliance and address concerns.
    • Ensure compliance with contract approval and notice-to-proceed requirements.
    • Oversee contractor compliance with contractual obligations, KPIs, and deliverables.
    • Manage changes in scope, schedule adjustments, and performance criteria.
    • Track and manage contract modifications, amendments, and extensions.
    • Resolve disputes arising from contract execution and implement escalation procedures.
    • Plan for contractor defaults or delays and ensure proper contract close-out procedures.
    • Maintain accurate contract files and ensure proper execution of all contractual documents.
    • Prepare reports on contract status, performance, and compliance for management and the Board.
    • Coordinate with the project team to serve as the primary point of contact for contractors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
    • Facilitate effective communication between project teams and external parties.
    • Keep executive sponsors informed on the status of negotiations and key project risks.
    • Stay informed of changes in construction laws and industry best practices.
    • Ensure contracts comply with all legal and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, Law, Engineering, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in contract management within the construction industry.
    • Strong understanding of construction contracts, terms, and regulations.
    • Proven ability to work in cross-functional teams and manage external contractors in a results-driven environment.
    • Proven experience in drafting, negotiating, and administering construction contracts.
    • Experience with progressive design build is preferred.
    • Experience with contracts for new construction projects is preferred.
    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Proficiency in contract management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Ability to work under pressure, managing multiple priorities with tight deadlines.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Salary range: $75,000-117,000
Paid Leave: 4 Weeks Vacation / 14 Flex Days per year
