About the role

Reporting to the Manager, Data Platform and Architecture, the Data Visualization Analyst is responsible for delivering solutions that present data insights in a meaningful way, through dashboards and formatted reports. The incumbent will be able to perform analysis on existing data models and work closely with the data engineers and architects to deliver complete end-to-end solutions. The incumbent will also work closely with the business users to assist with support, self-service requests and other ad-hoc data requests.

As a Data Visualization Analyst at Graham you will:

  • Output, test, and hand work off for review of functionality and quality of work.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to development and visual standards.
  • Manage work throughout the production and non-production environments using software lifecycle management.
  • Follow defined daily processes and remain on top of the workload.
  • Remain aware of the activities of others and ensure proper planning of assigned work.
  • Work with the various members of the team to ensure work is completed inline within specs and on time.
  • Interact and collaborate with the team on a daily basis through daily standup meetings.
  • Communicate technical aspects to the client to ensure any issues are resolved in a timely, effective manner.
  • Communicate with the business through support and maintenance interactions.
  • Demonstrate HSE and Quality behaviours that reflect corporate expectations of Actively Caring and Road to Zero.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Completion of a diploma training program at a college or technical school; degree or diploma in Technical Software, Computer Science, or Software Engineering is preferred.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience; experience with a project-based company is an asset.
  • Strong experience in Power BI and Power BI Report Builder while working with various types of data sources, both cloud and on premise.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • DAX experience for handling more complex data and visualization requirements.
  • Understanding of data modeling and transformations within Power BI and Power Query.
  • Experience working with the Power BI security model including dynamic row-level data security.
  • Experience working with end users to assist with self-service requests.
  • Lifecycle management experience with respect to Power BI, to ensure a seamless transition from development through to production, including version control practices.
  • Additional experience with any of the following would be an asset: Databricks, SAP Analytics Cloud, Web Intelligence, Crystal Reports, SAP HANA, SAP functional knowledge.
  • Experience with debugging / troubleshooting principles, and solid problem-solving skills.
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn, seek out answers, and gain new knowledge.
  • Knowledge of service desk processes and support experience.
  • Understanding of business functions or processes; understanding of how to use technology to solve the needs of the business is an asset.
