The Customer Network Planning (CNP) team is at the forefront of driving strategies to optimize and maximize TELUS fibre deployments to residential and commercial developments. The goal is to ensure every business and residential site is capable of subscribing to the very best that TELUS has to offer.


The Business Broadband team is an integral part of our CNP team, embodying TELUS' commitment to innovation and customer-first approach. As subject matter experts, our team plays a pivotal role in rapidly growing the TELUS PureFibre footprint in British Columbia & Alberta. We are seeking a passionate Design Specialist II to facilitate the creation of timely, accurate and cost effective outputs for our partners in the build process, while searching for ways to further enhance and optimize our business with a continuous improvement mindset. What you'll do

  • Maintain quality standards for engineering designs
  • Cultivate internal relationships with project manager, planners, marketing, engineering managers, and construction to ensure smooth workflow and strategic alignment with priorities
  • Consult as an engineering expert regarding engineering design & process, detailed system use, corporate and regulatory policy regarding TELUS infrastructure provisioning
  • Responsible for running and analyzing reports to identify gaps and opportunities as well as forecasts
  • Provide a single point of contact for external departments as required for projects and programs as required

What you bring

  • 4+ years of relevant professional experience including drafting design tools, a working knowledge of municipal and civil policies and procedures, as well as expertise in accepted engineering standards and practices for provisioning the network, along with knowledge of fiber optic infrastructure
  • Expert-level knowledge of engineering processes and regulatory policies, along with detailed expertise in design systems and tools such as SAP, AutoCAD, JIRA, and Spatialnet
  • Demonstrated ability to produce designs based on sound engineering economic analysis and network standards, along with strong skills in planning and organizing to meet scheduled deadlines
  • Highly self-motivated, you are able to take on projects and drive them to completion through collaboration
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast paced, deadline driven environment and adapt to changing priority schedules
  • University degree/Diploma ideally in a related field



Great-to-haves

  • Knowledge of safety and environmental policies & regulations
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), currently or on-track
