The Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) is launching a comprehensive restructuring of the Alberta Energy Market through its Restructured Energy Market (REM) program, a major, multi-year effort to deploy a new Energy Settlement System (ESS) in an aggressive three-year timeline.
AESO is looking for an experienced ESS Product Manager / Implementation Lead to oversee the ESS implementation workstream. This role focuses on ensuring a smooth transition to operations and ongoing product management after go-live. Key responsibilities include coordinating across REM workstreams and leading the ESS delivery from initial setup through operational launch.
The successful candidate will bring strong leadership, change management, and third-party vendor oversight, with experience managing cross-functional projects. They will oversee the ESS team, business relationships, and vendor coordination to drive ongoing expansion and enhancement of the ESS system.

Accountabilities include but are not limited to:
Lead and coordinate the implementation of IT systems across multiple workstreams.
Develop and manage detailed project plans, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budget and schedule constraints, with dependencies on other program workstreams.
Collaborate with business and other workstreams leads, to ensure effective planning and communication with execution of the projects.
Oversee and facilitate the vendor activities, maintaining alignment with KPIs.
Ensure the potentially phased requirements are defined, planned, and delivered within the overall program constraints and business expectations.
Prioritize the tasks and activities and proactively manage the resources to achieve KPIs.
Manage stakeholder communications on status, issue management, and risk management.
Support the delivery of the operational readiness and cutover planning.
Show accountability for documentation and processes related to execution, delivery, and operational readiness.
Apply a proactive and structured change management approach and methodology.
Coordination and facilitation of resources managers for matrix resourcing.
What you'll bring to us:
A Degree or Diploma in Information Technology (or equivalent).
PMP designation or equivalent is an asset.
PROSCI certification is an asset.
A minimum of 15 years of recent relevant work experience.
Proven delivery success in large scale system implementation programs.
Demonstrated experience working in an IT environment working directly with business leaders and 3rd party solution providers.
Utilities industry background is an asset.
