The Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated GIS Technologist to join our GIS Data Management team at TC Energy. This role is crucial for maintaining the definitive source of accurate, standardized geospatial data for the company. The successful candidate will manage the integration of new and modified assets, oversee non-asset geospatial data, and establish effective data management practices to ensure the integrity and reliability of our critical pipeline master data.

What You'll Do

  • Integrate new and update existing assets, attributes, and other critical centerline-related data.
  • Manage non-asset geospatial data to support Pipeline Integrity (PI) and programs across TC Energy.
  • Ensure GIS data management practices are in place and maintain a trusted source of truth for pipeline master data.
  • Implement continuous improvement of GIS data quality, including metrics, issue tracking, and data correction prioritization.
  • Research source documents and/or coordinate with others to resolve missing or conflicting data and other anomalies.
  • Provide input into database and tool enhancements and modernization efforts.
  • Manage centerline data such as as-built pipeline centerline, pipe attributes, and depth of cover (DOC).
  • Generate standard GIS products including maps, shape files, graphics, tables, and reports to meet specific customer requirements.
  • Performs standard spatial analyses such as buffering, spatial overlays and distance calculations using established methods and procedures.
  • Support senior team members in client meetings and facilitate small group project and client work sessions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree with a major in Geographic Information Systems, Computer Science or a closely related field that required equivalent coursework in geographic information systems with relevant work experience.
  • 2 years of experience in maintaining the completeness, accuracy, and quality of GIS database information.
  • Professional knowledge of the theory and principles of ESRI GIS software and database manipulation. e.g. ArcPro, ArcEnterprise, Spatial Database Engine (SDE).
  • Ability to apply established GIS technology principles, methods, procedures, and tools to the completion of well-defined GIS functions and projects. Works with a professional attitude and maintains an organized and safety-conscious approach in all aspects of the job.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy and integrity are crucial for maintaining the quality of GIS database information

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of FME or scripting language to automate processes and streamline workflow.
  • Knowledge of raster data management and analytics (e.g. LiDAR)
  • Experience and process knowledge in the energy or utility industries.
