We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Health and Safety Specialist to manage the safety day to day operations of the assigned project sites and regions. The HSE Specialist is required to liaise with the field operations and work as a team member with fellow HSE Specialists. Reporting to the H&S Regional Manager to provide accurate and timely support and resources for the field operations of the safety performance of the company.

OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as a resource to field operations to optimize safety work performance
  • Complete safety orientations for new workers, promotions or transfer workers
  • Complete regular field and office inspections of work conditions
  • Write objective, thorough and accurate reports of the inspection conditions
  • Facilitating changes with the onsite workforce to correct substandard site conditions
  • To identify and affect the correction of hazards
  • Working with the Health and Safety team members to manage and analyze HSE data
  • When incidents occur complete an incident investigation
  • Participating in the weekly safety department call in meeting
  • Train and educate the field staff to legal and corporate safety leadership expectations

QUALIFICATION and REQUIREMENTS

  • Post-secondary education in a related field is an asset
  • Previous 3+ years experience working in the construction industry would be a strong asset
  • Credentials to support skillset
  • Demonstrated competency with Microsoft office including: Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Effective communicator with the ability to develop and sustain productive working relationships with employees, subcontractors and other stakeholders at all levels
  • Well organized with an ability to effectively set and manage competing priorities
  • Sense of prioritization and drive to succeed
  • Must be comfortable working within a deadline driven fast paced environment
  • Resourceful, energetic and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong team player with the ability to operate independently with confidence
  • Driver's license and the ability to travel to job sites with own vehicle
  • Strong interest in growing career within the construction industry
