The Industrial Electrician plays a crucial role in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment within our production environment. The main focus of this role is to ensure optimal performance and safety of machinery, contributing to the efficiency of our operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install, test, examine, maintain, replace, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and machinery (including wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fibre-optic and coaxial cable assemblies, and other components) according to blueprints and technical diagrams.
  • Ability to work efficiently with input and output connections, sensor and motor wiring, switches, push buttons, and pneumatic solenoids.
  • Faultfinding, troubleshooting, and seeking out electrical and equipment problems; diagnosing and resolving electrical issues, using testing devices, and diagnostic tools to ensure minimal downtime.
  • Finding ways to improve different aspects of the production process and control systems, including efficiency or safety issues; make recommendations and implement these efficiencies.
  • Using electronic, computer, and mechanical technology to develop solutions to problems.
  • Read and understand drawings, blueprints, schematics, and electrical code requirements to determine the layout of industrial electrical equipment installations.
  • Conduct research into the feasibility, design, operation, and performance of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Develop maintenance and operating standards for electrical and equipment systems; conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance on electrical systems and components to enhance reliability.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work, including process and parts used.

Required Qualifications

  • Industrial Electrician Red Seal (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum four years of experience in a similar role.
  • Proven ability to read, understand, and follow drawings, blueprints, schematics, and the electrical code for troubleshooting.
  • Proven experience and knowledge in the electrical and industrial technology.
  • Proven experience and knowledge in pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical symbols, relay logic and ladder diagram wiring, and program techniques.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Proficient in using operational excellence, and project management tools.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Comfortable bending, stretching, and lifting; with the ability to work standing up for long periods of time.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to finding solutions.
  • Knowledge of operational best practices and process improvement methodologies.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Office suite.
  • Demonstrated capability to plan, organize, and execute projects.
