The MacPhail School of Energy is the only energy school in Canada, and we are charting a new course with a focus on sustainable energy sources and practices. MacPhail School of Energy provides hands-on, industry-guided training in labs that mimic job site environments, giving students the skills needed to find a rewarding career in the energy sector.

The Opportunity

We are looking for Instructors to teach an 8 week program of the Electrical Apprenticeship. Teaching this program requires in-depth knowledge of electrical theory, code and current residential and commercial trade practices. As part of our team, you are encouraged to be bold and inventive, bringing new ideas to the table.

The Role

    • Prepare for classes prior to delivery
    • Provide accurate and up to date reporting of student marks
    • Develop quality presentations for students
    • Attend all SAIT training as required
    • Achievement of School initiatives and Objectives
    • Be an active and engaged member of the School
    • Adhere to all safety legislation, guidelines and safety standards as required
    • Maintain contact with industry sectors to assure technology is relevant
    • All other duties as required for the position

Qualifications & Experience

    • Red Seal Electrician and Master Electrician certification required
    • Prior teaching experience in the electrical trades would be an asset
    • Five years of field experience as a Journeyperson Electrician is preferred
    • A university degree would be an asset

Skills & Knowledge

    • Fluent in English reading and vocabulary
    • Comfortable speaking to the public
    • Positive & respectful attitude
    • Basic level of Proficiency working in Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook
    • Ability to read, interpret and deliver specific curriculum
