Your future role on our team

You'll be working at either BBA's Calgary or Edmonton office as Environmental Professional, and you'll hold the role of project leader. The Environment department carries out a variety of mandates in project development and execution in the energy (hydroelectricity, wind and solar power, biofuels, H2, etc.), industrial, infrastructure and land-use planning sectors, including biophysical characterization, impact and social acceptability studies as well as approval and permit applications.

Operations (billable 80% of the time)

· Participate/lead in preparing proposals (strategy, work plan, budget, etc.).

· Lead the writing of high-quality scientific and technical reports, including regulatory submission documents.

· Lead and participate in land inventories/land use/field surveys.

· Lead and participate in applying for environmental permits and approval certificates.

· Participate to environmental impact assessments and other related studies within a multidisciplinary team.

· Support project managers in drafting proposals.

· Develop methodologies, prepare sampling plans and ensure data entry.

· Ensure project budgets and schedules are respected.

Business development (5-10% of the time)

· Develop constructive business relationships during project implementation to encourage repeat business.

· Promote cross-selling of expertise to existing clients.

Team leadership (5% to 10% of the time - Will evolve as the team grows)

· Ensure that information flows within the team and that team members provide information that is appropriate, timely, complete and properly analyzed and presented.

· Serve as a mentor for young professionals within the group.

Overview of certifications and job requirements

· Bachelor's degree in an environment-related field

· From 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in environmental projects (budget, schedule, planning, work execution)

· Experience with biophysical and environmental assessments (high-water mark delineation, botanical method, fauna and flora inventories, characterization of land and water ecosystems, etc.)

· Good writing skills

· Ability to give oral presentations (for projects or business development)

· Knowledge of the MS Office Suite and ArcGIS software

· Asset: bilingual (English and French), both spoken and written

· Asset: master's degree in Environment or Biological Sciences
