Your Opportunity
We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Intermediate Engineer or Scientist with a keen interest in greenhouse gas (GHG) verification to join our team in our Calgary office and advance their career. Consideration will also be given to our Edmonton office. Our GHG Specialists provide specialized services to a wide variety of sectors including chemical, manufacturing, oil and gas, power generation, mining and mineral production etc. Our practitioners offer a full suite of services including organizational verification and project validation/verification under various regulatory and voluntary programs. In addition to GHG verification work, our Atmospheric Science group provides services such as air quality assessment, hazard and risk assessment, climate change risk and resilience assessment, and noise assessment.
Your Key Responsibilities
Conduct third-party GHG verifications as a verifier or lead verifier for a variety of sectors
Lead, manage and execute the GHG validation and verification projects
Review and assess GHG emissions data, production data, and methodologies for accuracy and compliance
Conduct site and office visits to gather evidence and assess operations across Canada mainly in Western Canada
Collaborate with clients to kick off projects, plan site visits, and share findings
Prepare verification plans, verification reports, proposals, and other technical documents
Stay current with GHG regulations, standards, and best practices
Motivate and support other verifier and junior verifiers
Conduct GHG quantification for a variety of sectors for various regulatory and voluntary programs
Prepare air emissions inventories for various reporting program
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Understanding of provincial and federal GHG reporting and verification fundamentals
Training and experience in the ISO 14064 greenhouse gas standards
Experience with GHG quantification methodologies
Experience conducting site visits to gather evidence during greenhouse gas verifications
Experience manipulating and analyzing large data sets
Experience conducting air quality assessments would be an asset
Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
Be a results-oriented individual with the ability to interpret and effectively manage multiple and competing priorities and timelines
Able to work independently with minimal supervision and in a multi-disciplinary team
Flexibility in scheduling is required for travel necessary for site work (travel across Canada will be required from time to time)
A valid driver's license is required
Education and Experience
A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related sciences.
5 years of experience in GHG verification, auditing, or environmental consulting.
Having a professional engineering designation is an asset.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
