THE OPPORTUNITY

Triton Environmental Consultants Ltd. (Triton) values investing in up-and-coming environmental professionals by providing meaningful employment, mentorship, and learning opportunities in real‑world experiences.

Triton is anticipating hiring entry‑level environmental professionals, based in Calgary or Edmonton, Alberta (other locations in Alberta will be considered also), to help support our field programs, data management, and reporting.

This position is specifically within Triton's Assessment & Reclamation discipline division area. This position will be responsible for participating in soil and groundwater-related field programs and providing reporting support to project managers.

Responsibilities, can include the following:

  • Assisting in phased environmental site assessments (Phase 1 and 2 ESAs), including soil, groundwater and soil vapour sampling
  • Assisting with reclamation field programs
  • Assisting in soil and groundwater remediation programs
  • Conducting vegetation and soil assessments to aid in determining reclamation success
  • Contributing to multi-disciplinary projects
  • Contributing to high-quality reports (Phase 1 and 2 ESAs, detailed site assessments etc.)
  • Liaising with clients, contractors, and sub-contractors
  • Helping to ensure the quality, cost, and timeliness of deliverables are maintained
  • Ensuring clients' and Triton's safety standards are maintained or exceeded
  • Working collaboratively within Triton's corporate culture

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Undergraduate degree (B.Sc.) or diploma in soil science, land reclamation, environmental science, earth sciences, or related field.
  • Future eligibility to be registered with a relevant professional organization in AB is preferred (i.e. Alberta Institute of Agrologists (AIA), Alberta Society of Professional Biologists (ASPB), or another relevant professional organization).
  • Relevant summer or other job experience is considered a significant asset.
  • Knowledge and experience with soil classification and mapping using the Canadian System of Soil Classification
  • Experience with or understanding of Phase 1 and 2 Environmental Site Assessments, Groundwater Monitoring Programs, Remediation, Reclamation Detailed Site Assessments, and/or Reclamation Certificate Applications
  • Basic understanding of Provincial regulatory guidelines in Alberta
  • Understanding of regulatory guidelines in other jurisdictions (i.e., BC, SK, Federal) is an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Detail-oriented with solid organizational and time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative working style
  • Valid Class 5 driver's licence

SCHEDULE

This is largely a field-based position and requires being able to work in remote and in outdoor field settings, sometimes for extended durations. Schedule details are subject to project client requirements.

This will be a full time, permanent role.
