Job Summary

APG Canada West is seeking a Key Account Manager, responsible for the overall sales function of the Masonry product lines. This will include maintaining existing business, increasing customer orders, and developing customer relationships. As a representative of Masonry products, you will increase company revenue by growing sales of products within the Edmonton and Calgary markets.

Job Responsibilities

  • Cultivate and develop opportunities to incorporate safe work practices into daily working routine; assist others in identifying and adhering to established safety procedures; be mindful of potential safety issues and report them immediately to a Supervisor, Safety Committee member or Group Health and Safety Manager
  • Provide technical support at the request of architects and engineers relating to the design and specification of products
  • Review project specifications to ensure correct specification of products. Investigate possible sales on projects where alternate products may be specified
  • Review designers’ current design options on specific projects with the objective of stimulating the creativity of designers to use our products
  • Further prospect masonry sales opportunities on a regular basis by leveraging existing relationships, reviewing industry lead sources (i.e. Key Fax), attending industry association and seminars
  • Profile consultants, determine their propensity for our product line, identify competitive opportunities, create and follow an account plan for each client
  • Conduct information sessions (lunch ‘n learns) promoting the use of our hardscape and masonry products to building architects, structural engineers and developers/builders, as well as educational institutions
  • Train designers with respect to the inventory product line and technical information. The objective is to create a specification ‘template’ standard for future projects along with an environment of ‘transactional’ sales
  • Educate Design-Build Contractors, General Contractors, Construction Managers and Contractors regarding our product, the performance characteristics of the product line and the value-added services that the company offers. Further, educate design engineers on the use of masonry design software
  • Track won and lost orders, compiling reasons for success or loss. Use success analysis to increase profitability of future sales and develop transactional sales. Use Loss Analysis to create strategic action plans to reduce future losses
  • Ensures inventory level of marketing literature (catalogues, brochures, etc.) is maintained and proactively monitors in anticipation of upcoming events, shows and presentations
  • Collects feedback from customers and key industry contacts and shares with sales team and management for strategic planning purposes
  • Creates a positive corporate profile and maintains key industry & industry-related relationships by utilizing and expanding networking opportunities
  • May construct and maintain displays in stores and in dealers’ yards

Job Requirements

  • 10+ years sales experience
  • Proven ability to grow sales in prior sales roles
  • Experience using SalesForce (CRM)
  • Post secondary education in a technical or business school
  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office and some AutoCAD experience are necessary
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Ability to intermittently lift-up to sixty (60) pounds without assistance
  • Ability to travel within western Canada and the U.S.A
  • Basic understanding of the subcontractor and negotiated contractor (design build) sales approach.
