PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

To provide oversight on purpose-built engineering On Company Service (OCS) railcar fleets & trains. The Manager Field Execution - Ballast will provide railcar and trainload logistic planning and support for specific engineering materials and commodities. Build, communicate and execute engineering Work Train and Unit Train plans. This position will also perform data capturing, analysis and reporting.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Primary Train planner for aggregate line of business using Nexus/Tyes systems
  • Advocate for movement and escalate delays to any trains or assigned cars
  • Execute allocation and deployment for 40 - 70 Engineering assigned locomotives system wide
  • Add, update and support one-off nonscheduled work trains via Engineering Work Trains In-basket including priority FRA TEC trains
  • Create and execute schedule for leased and CPKC owned aggregate delivery assets
  • Performance analysis on car cycles and develop recommendations for improvement where required
  • Monitor fleet dwell and provide visibility through reports/scorecards to Engineering and other stakeholders
  • Leverage new technologies to improve visibility on fleets and cycles
  • Will be assigned rail car fleet renewal projects for new builds and car conversions via SAP projects
  • Support Engineering Emergency Response as required, including a rotating 24/7 on call team

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • A degree in supply chain management or significant railway experience
  • Significant railway Operational, Engineering or System railcar fleet experience
  • Operating Systems: TYES/ITM/Nexus
  • Fleet and track/trace applications: Vista, ISI, Delta, Order entry, Qlikview
  • Project systems: SAP, VIM, Ariba
  • Strong skills in Excel and/or other data management systems
  • Must be able to work with vast array of employees and be adaptable to change in pressure situations
  • Strong communication skills
  • Able to drill down, understand root cause and resolve complex issues
