The Opportunity

Our Canada Gas Operations Group is currently looking to add a Manager, Operations and Maintenance Support to our team, based in Calgary, AB (other locations may be considered).

Reporting to the VP, Canada Gas Operations, this position is responsible for establishing a team structure and supporting processes to effectively triage, manage and execute complex maintenance and corrective work falling outside the day-to-day scope of normal operations. This leader will provide oversight and leadership to the Operations and Maintenance Support team, ensuring effective project and maintenance coordination, work prioritization, cost control, and contractor management.

What you will do

  • Establish and 'Operations and Maintenance Support' team structure and supporting processes that will support work that falls out of scope of our Area Operations and Projects teams and responsibilities to yield efficiencies if done programmatically across regions/geographies
  • Align with key internal stakeholders (Field Operations, Projects, Integrated Planning, Supply Chain, USGO, CFO) on a change management plan for the new team
  • Provide leadership and oversight of Operations and Maintenance Support team as well as the Manager of Operations Support
  • Ensure effective project/maintenance coordination, cost control, and contractor maintenance
  • Map out team processes for complex maintenance opportunity development, planning, and execution, ensuring alignment with existing project and work management processes
  • Work with Supply Chain on a vendor and/or temporary resourcing strategy to support complex and/or programmatic maintenance
  • Own and coordinate the CGO corrective budget and prioritization, with input from all appropriate stakeholders
  • Ensure seamless governance and stewardship of key leadership topics and stakeholder management for the Canada Gas Operations Leadership team

Minimum Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary Education (Technical trades certification, diploma, degree) in a related field
  • 15 years of related experience
  • Proven track record of leadership in operations, projects, and/or construction management
  • 5 years of field leadership experience, either in operational or project execution roles
  • Demonstrates a highly collaborative leadership approach.
  • Skilled in building influence and alignment to support the creation of a new team while aligning with existing corporate processes
  • Experience with planning and budgeting and/or project controls

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in team start-up and development
  • Experience managing the safety of high-risk field work

This position requires candidates to:

  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (a record) for review
  • This position will involve travel and overnight stays away from home (estimated up to 30% of work schedule during peak work periods)
  • Occasionally be available for extended work hours outside of standard business hours, and call-outs as needed
  • Have current, valid authorization to travel internationally (including but not limited to Canada, US and Mexico)
