PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The CPKC Pega Practice and Application Support Manager is essential in leading a team that provides daily support for train yard Information Systems and related technologies. This role also oversees the Pega Practice Center of Excellence (COE), working with internal and external partners to improve standards and develop low-code solutions.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Promote teamwork and information exchange, working towards consistency with established standards within IS processes.
  • Manage a team responsible for designing, developing, and delivering high-quality Train Yard Management solutions
  • Manage a team providing round-the-clock support, responding promptly to incidents, handling system issues/improvements, and consistently improving applications.
  • Collaborate with collaborators and technology partners to deliver efficient IS solutions, improve processes, and identify cost savings.
  • Maintain IS assets in top condition, renew needed licenses, and stay updated on Pega technology advancements for application
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation of projects and timely delivery of IS solutions, applying project management skills.
  • Work with departments like Mechanical, Engineering, Software, Data, and Operations to drive performance improvements and optimize processes
  • Lead and mentor the COE team, developing competencies in technical, process, governance, and business areas
  • Develop and manage Pega's end-to-end development lifecycle framework, including CI/CD pipelines and various testing phases
  • Understand Pega Platform capabilities and provide actionable recommendations to business teams

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • 10+ years of progressive Information Services experience; or equivalent education and experience in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
  • 3+ years of management/leadership experience, with a focus on Business Process Management initiatives, preferably using the Pega platform
  • Solid grasp of IT processes and project delivery methodologies, including System Development Life Cycle
  • Skilled at identifying and solving complex problems with a focus on achieving desired outcomes
  • Adaptable to fast-paced environments, capable of handling shifting priorities, and available 24/7 as needed
  • Previous railroad experience and knowledge of Pega methodologies and technologies are advantageous

Management Conductor Program:

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
