The Manager Supply Chain Management (SCM) will manage the department that oversees, plans and executes all supply chain management (SCM) activities at Gibson Energy. This role is responsible for key SCM functions including category management, strategic sourcing, supplier selection/contract negotiations, key supplier performance and relationship management, cost/inventory management, new product material readiness, and full SCM life cycle management. The position partners with internal stakeholders including Operations, Engineering, Project Execution, Construction, Administration, Finance, Legal and Indigenous Relations, as well as external suppliers, building strategic relationships to understand the needs and jointly establish and meet the goals, objectives, and targets of Gibson Energy. The Manager SCM will also establish and proactively manage strategic supplier relationships, lead negotiations of agreements with key suppliers and continuously monitor and actively manage performance in key SCM functions to ensure they actively contribute to safety, competitiveness, and agility of our company.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Aligned with the Company values this role is responsible for developing and mentoring team members, and providing guidance and direction for the overall group, including:
    • Communicating the Company's vision and strategy in relatable terms.
    • Building a collaborative, innovative team to exceed customer expectations (internal and external).
    • Creating an environment of engagement for team members to produce high quality services.
    • Managing performance of individuals to achieve results.
  • Ensures that the supply chain resource pool is adequate (in capability and capacity) to handle the current and projected workloads and that the correct structure is in place to sustain it for the future. Builds and executes overall strategy for the Supply Chain Management team including approach to strategic sourcing, procurement, inventory stocking and deployment, develops and implements cost minimization strategies, optimization tools and efficient key SCM processes supported by fit-for-purpose and effective systems.
  • Working with business partners and SCM team members, actively identifies and prioritizes opportunities to improve SCM processes and contributes to implementation of process and systems enhancements to improve demand planning and supply chain planning efficiency.
  • Proactively identifies and works closely with their peers in other departments to implement cross-functional process improvements serving as the business owner/subject matter expert for supply chain planning and execution tools.
  • Conducts strategic studies identifying trends to determine potential impact to existing and new products and services and pursues opportunities to create competitive advantage for Gibson Energy and proactively manage potential risks.
  • Develops and delivers on service agreements with internal customers that are realistic, measurable and aligned with corporate goals and ensures they are cascaded into team and individual objectives and goals.
  • Creates and/or contributes to initiatives that result in on-time delivery of project/facility needs.
  • Presents concise and effective solutions to project team leaders on procurement solutions.
  • Manages Corporate and committed distributor inventories from a reduction/elimination perspective.
  • Demonstrates excellent supplier relationship management skills with contractors and distributors.
  • Develops and tracks relevant SCM metrics, to ensure SCM actively contributes to safety, competitiveness, and agility of our business.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to implement sustainability initiatives within sourcing and procurement processes, including support for Partnership Accreditation in Indigenous Relations (PAIR) certification.
  • Demonstrates a personal commitment and proactive approach to Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) through participation in all applicable EH&S programs and ensures safe operation of the branch, team or unit and compliance with all Company EH&S policies and procedures.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, or a business-related field.
  • Minimum 15+ years of progressive experience in related field.
  • Previous people leadership experience and demonstrated track record of driving and implementing organizational, processes and systems change effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and sustain high performing teams.
  • Proven track record of delivering advantageous commercial results across a variety of capital and operating spend categories.
  • Exhibits combination of strategic and cross-functional thinker, coupled with strong understanding of tactical, sourcing, and inventory management.
  • Strong analytical, strategic, and interpersonal skills to effectively influence, drive and implement change.
  • Active listener and outside-the-box thinker. Proven ability to develop and maintain trusting working relationships with internal stakeholders as well as with external suppliers.
  • Proven ability to assess, prioritize and respond to urgent situations on a timely basis.
  • Highly collaborative and inclusive leader, with strong ability to facilitate and lead a cross-functional team.
  • Ability to communicate and influence total cost decision making to key Stakeholders.
  • Must be adaptable and focused in a rapidly changing environment remaining open and flexible to all changes in processes and offer constructive suggestions for overall improvement.
  • Proven experience with contracts, negotiations, and structuring agreements.
  • Previous experience in enhancing a responsible procurement sourcing vision and strategy, focusing on sustainable supply chains, ESG compliance, and Indigenous procurement initiatives is a strong asset.
  • Willing and able to travel to field locations as needed.

Working Conditions

  • Duties primarily performed in an office setting (sedentary work).
  • Travel to field locations required as needed (15%).
