Position Summary:

We are currently recruiting a Methods Planner to join our team in Calgary, AB at our Calgary 8 facility. The Methods Planner is responsible for defining and implementing methods to build and assemble aircraft parts efficiently and in accordance with company, supplier and AS9100 requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and revise assembly instruction routings or manufacturing instruction routings for the manufacturing or assembly of aircraft components
  • Ability to analyze drawings to determine the most efficient and economical way to manufacture a detailed part or assembly
  • Develop assembly and manufacturing strategies for aircraft components
  • Develop necessary tools to manufacture or assemble aircraft components by considering established geometric tolerances
  • Harmonize the implementation of engineering changes or assembly strategies by working in close collaboration with Customers, Engineering, Parts Logistics, Quality and Production
  • Actively participate in production support by coordinating problem solving with other support departments
  • Keep abreast of best ways to enhance assembly and manufacturing strategies and participate in improvement projects
  • Maintain and establish relationships with current and new suppliers for sub-contracted work. Initiate RFQ's and choose the best vendor
  • Conduct cost analysis for the different parts and assemblies to establish standard cost
  • Propose and implement cost related innovative solutions to enhance and streamline business processes, optimize costs, improve customer satisfaction, improve relationships with suppliers and internal partners
  • Interpret, verify and approve drawings and other production documents

Qualifications

  • College or University Diploma in Aeronautical, Mechanical, Industrial, Engineering, Aerospace Manufacturing or in a relevant field
  • Aerospace experience in detail and assembly methods and all process related to the manufacture of Aircraft parts including but not limited to: machining, sheet metal, welding, composites, chemical processes, assembly and overhaul
  • Experience in cost estimating for the manufacture of aerospace detail and assembly parts
  • Ability to read technical drawings and have a good visualization in 3D with excellent analytical skills
  • Knowledge and ability to work with computer-based software such as Catia, AutoCad, Dellcam Power Inspect, MasterCam, etc.
  • Knowledge and ability to work with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software such as JDE, etc.
  • Knowledge of quality system standards (including ISO9001:2000+AS9100B)
