The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager of Canada Gas Control, as the Gas Control Operations Manager, you will play a crucial role in the oversight of Gas Control Centre operations and the successful execution of daily operating plans across all TC Energy gas pipeline assets. Your role will include, but is not limited to, the execution of operational decisions and transportation of natural gas through our facilities in a safe and efficient manner and in accordance with regulatory, shareholder and customer requirements and objectives.

What you'll do

  • Manage shift employees and associated work schedules / expenses, provide mentorship on career development and communicate / establish the team's goals, objectives and functional priorities

  • Collaborate with other areas of TC Energy, connecting operators and customers (both internal and external) to ensure successful execution of operations plans

  • Provide and ensure consistent Gas Control Center input into operational projects, design, outage plans and processes

  • Support of the Gas Control Quality Management system for the purposes of continuous improvement

  • Foster continuous improvement through non-conformance reporting and corrective and preventive action development, implementation, and auditing

  • Develop, maintain and enhance operational and emergency response procedures that align with department goals of safe, reliable and consistent operations and provide support as a member of the Emergency Response Team

  • Maintain emergency response and preparedness plans for Gas Control, including the effective implementation of the Incident Management Process

  • Ensure procedures and records are controlled in accordance with the Company's document and records management policies

  • Assist in the management the Gas Control training and qualification program

  • Assist in the Monitor & Control Process coordinator role

  • Provide and support regulatory inspections, reporting, and information request

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school graduation required; technical school diploma is preferred

  • 10 or more years of related experience, preferably in gas/oil pipeline operations, design, or maintenance

  • An alternative combination of education and experience may be considered

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven decision making, analytical and command skills, specifically during emergency situations

  • Demonstrated leadership in the areas of technical knowledge, change management, and effective team building skills

  • Experience with conflict resolution and problem-solving tools / processes

  • Excellent interpersonal skills as demonstrated through interactions with team, peers, leaders and internal and external customers

  • Experience in performance measurement and quality management systems

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing and ability to deliver presentations to a variety of audiences

  • Strong computer application skills (Microsoft Word & Excel)

  • Strong knowledge of gas pipeline hydraulics, gas transmission and gas compressor, measurement and pipeline facilities

  • Knowledge of Supervisory Controls and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and API1165 standards

  • Knowledge of Canadian and US pipeline regulations and standards

  • Knowledge of the ISO 9001 quality management system
