The Opportunity

The Pipeline Integrity Encroachment team is seeking to add an experienced and motivated Professional Engineer to the role of Pipeline Integrity / Damage Prevention Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-performing group of technical professionals dedicated to enhancing the safety and protection of TC Energy's Canadian pipeline infrastructure.

This role joins a team of high performing group of engineers, analysts and field specialists who strive to enhance the safety and protection of TC Energy's infrastructure by planning and executing Damage Prevention activities on TC Energy's Canadian pipeline assets. You will gain unique exposure by collaborating with multiple internal and external stakeholders such as landowners, vendors, other pipeline operators, and regulators.

What you'll do

  • Implement the full lifecycle of the Encroachment project, ensuring it meets all technical requirements, complies with regulations, and maintains proper documentation.
  • Coordinate, collaborate and align with other functional support teams, including Pipe Integrity, Land, Legal and regional operation, to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Develop scope of work, technical requirement, and ongoing technical support to contractors and vendors in conducting engineering analysis, survey, and mitigation, ensuring the work quality meet standards.
  • Coordinate and provide technical support to internal engineering stakeholders in planning and conducting engineering analysis.
  • Analyze information to assess, evaluate and manage potential pipeline integrity threats and damage prevention and encroachment issues, ensuring optimum mitigation measure is developed and implemented.
  • Provide support in the execution of damage prevention activities, when required.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable governing regulations in Canada.
  • Communicate and report technical aspects and project work progress to leadership.
  • Support in identifying opportunities for improvement, contribute to continuous technical and process optimization.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 6+ years of related engineering, engineering technology or equivalent experience
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering or a Diploma in Engineering Technology
  • Must be registered, or eligible to be registered, as a professional engineer (P. Eng) with APEGA in good standing
  • Candidates with a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) designation or a P.Tech. (Eng.) designation with an appropriate scope of practice, with ASET, may be considered at a different level
  • Related professional experience in Pipeline Integrity, Right-of-Way Management and/or Damage Prevention roles, Project Management, and risk analysis would be an asset.
  • Self-motivated individual with excellent work ethic, attention to detail, track record of driving tasks to completion and adept at leading change
  • Demonstrated excellence in the following skill sets: communication (written and oral), time management, decision making and negotiations.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with an emphasis on tact and diplomacy; ability to communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated decision-making skills, with the ability to collaborate and contribute in a team environment
  • Established ability to problem solve by applying technical principles and developing effective solutions.
  • Highly capable time management, prioritization, and organizational skills
  • Other combination of education and work experience may be considered.

This position requires candidates to:

  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (record) for review
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
  • Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home.
