Position Summary

The Program Manager, MRO reports to the Manager, Product Change and Development but will liaise with internal departments in the areas of Manufacturing, Sales, Operations, Engineering, Technical Services, Legal, HR, Finance, and the Executive leadership. The Program Manager will also interact with customers, suppliers, and consultants.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Accept full accountability for accomplishment of approved project objectives.
  • Plan, manage, and execute a wide range of projects to schedule, cost, and quality targets.
  • Develop detailed, comprehensive plans based on approved objectives.
  • Identify and manage risks to mitigate impact to scope, schedule, cost, and quality constraints.
  • Create and sustain clear, concise communication and governance initiatives to keep Sponsors and stakeholders informed.
  • Follow and ensure change milestones are achieved within the committed schedules and budget.
  • Assess and report on risk and contingency within the harmonized change plans.
  • Establish project budgets and use DHC project cost controls for budget and cost management.
  • Establish quality criteria for project success. Ensure projects are measured against initial quality criterion throughout their execution and up to completion.
  • Identify and manage program risk based on their probability and impact. Escalate when necessary.
  • Ensure the appropriate level of project governance implemented for timely decision-making and program progress reporting.
  • Ensure clear communication with team members for objectives, timeline, and priorities. Hold team members accountable for their commitments and ensure on time delivery of the program. Ensure feedback to functional management as necessary.
  • Manage cross functional projects within schedule, budget, and quality to support organizational change, project engineering, manufacturing activities and DHC operations.
  • Evaluate, schedule, and budget any required program. Ensure quality and risk management, as well as governance and team coordination of the programs to comply with company strategy and targets.
  • Apply project management, in managing internal and external program deliverables to meet high quality standards.
  • Participate in internal and external stakeholder, including customers, coordination to support the efficient execution of program deliverables.
  • Ensure application of professional standards and company processes are followed in accomplishing program activities.
  • Always represent De Havilland in a professional and courteous manner in every communication with all internal and external stakeholders.

Education & Experience

  • 10 - 15 years' experience working in a project management role, within a multi-function, multi-level organizational environment.
  • A combination of education and experience in aerospace and/or manufacturing will be considered.
  • Experience in, or understanding of, aerospace certification requirements.
  • Degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, Aerospace related or equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience (e.g.: Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, etc.).
  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in a large component manufacturing environment, preferably in the aerospace industry.
  • Previous experience in a program or change management role reviewing potential change and harmonizing the plan for incorporation.
  • Knowledge of the fabrication and assembly of aircraft parts.
  • Financial acumen - Working knowledge of cost estimating, able to manage the project budget and spend.

Skills

  • Advanced knowledge in MS Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Team oriented and works well in a collaborative environment.
  • Ability to manage and act on multiple projects and priorities at one time.
  • Demonstrated strong negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Driving and managing schedule to obtain deliverables from stakeholders.
  • Capability to maintain steady control and calm when facing challenges.
  • Metrics-focused.
  • Critical thinker who can navigate complex, unclear situations.

Work Location & Conditions of Employment

  • Candidate will be required to live in Calgary, Alberta.
  • Candidate will be required to work in the office full time in a collaborative, and innovative environment.
  • Candidate may be required to travel at short notice.
  • Schedule flexibility may be required.
