The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Electrical Engineer who has proven knowledge and experience in technical design development and execution of maintenance capital projects for Natural Gas Compression and/or Measurement facilities.
The ideal candidate would have Electrical design experience combined with excellent collaboration and communication skills. The engineer will develop/review compression and/or measurement facility systems and equipment drawings, evaluate contractor design packages, interface with contracted Engineering Service Providers (ESP), support material procurement, provide construction technical support and create or review guidance documentation, standards, specifications, processes, procedures or tools used for the execution of Engineering Work.
What you'll do
Follow and ensure compliance with TC Energy's Practice of Engineering (POE) in all assigned work
Responsible for the Engineering Work associated to maintenance capital projects in Natural Gas Compression and/or Measurement facilities
Detailed definition of project scope (including site visits) to determine the best engineering approach for their implementation
Accountable to lead design development through engagement with internal and external engineering teams to evaluate and approve design packages
Create/compile bidding documentation to be provided to Engineering Service Providers (ESP), including the definition of project requirements and engineering deliverables
Review third party engineering bid documents and proposals for contract awarding
Primary point of contact with external Engineering Service Providers (ESP) managing scope, timelines and quality of technical deliverables
Manage project specific engineering contracts including periodic interface and oversight of Engineering Service Providers (ESPs)
Provide innovative engineering solutions that meet project requirements
Facilitate and perform discipline engineering client reviews in accordance with requirements
Establish adequate stakeholder engagement, including assembly of Design Oversight Teams (per requirements) and facilitate effective client reviews that improve the overall design product
Identify equipment design requirements and review equipment layouts and installation
Review station's ancillary systems performance to ensure operational reliability
Sizing verification and purchase specification for various equipment types, including boilers, filtering systems, coolers, meters, compressors, dryers, regulators, valves, silencers, and other ancillary equipment tied to gas, water and oil service fluids
Participate in project design and HAZOP reviews
Support the technical aspects of the material procurement process, including reviewing project requisitions against requirements
Provide technical support throughout construction and commissioning activities, including site visits and timely RFI responses
Perform engineering project close out tasks, including redline review, as-building, equipment data gathering for the preventive maintenance system, etc.
Participate in Root Cause Analyses, identify causal factors, and propose remedial actions
Drive process improvement initiatives, including identification of technical deficiencies and leveraging quality processes (non-conformance reports, lessons learned sessions, etc.).
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution, or equivalent degree with relevant experience
4 to 6+ years of relevant progressive experience
Knowledge of natural gas pipelines and compressor station design, codes, standards, and specifications (CSA Z662, ASME B31.3)
Ability to apply engineering principles, codes, and standards to identify issues, recommend improvements, and implement solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
Electrical. Instrumentation & Controls discipline design experience within the energy infrastructure industry. Automation considered a key asset;
Professional Engineering (P.Eng) license preferred but accepting experienced Engineers In Training (EIT)
Ability to travel for work assignments as required
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills with the ability to build and maintain effective business relationships to reach company objectives
Preference will be given to candidates with a technical aptitude combined with the ability to effectively prioritize conflicting tasks within a team environment
Demonstrated ability to initiate change and help others adapt to a continuously changing work environment
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
