About this opportunity:

Under the direction of the Manager, Community & Indigenous Affairs (CIA), the Community and Indigenous Affairs Senior Advisor is responsible for developing and sustaining relationships among various Indigenous communities, elected municipal bodies or other stakeholders primarily related to Cenovus's operations within the Deep Basin Region.

This can be a field based (remote) working position or based in Cenovus's corporate office in Calgary, AB. Frequent travel to site and community locations is required.

What you'll do:

  • Compliance with government sponsored Indigenous consultation process.

  • Compliance with existing conditions within Impact Benefit Agreements

  • Develop and maintain a trusted reputation within operating areas (Indigenous partners, non-Indigenous stakeholders, and internal/external business partners)

  • Adhere to corporate and functional level core values that are demonstrated in both decisions and actions

  • Support an aligned culture that promotes the Cenovus Purpose and Values to Protect what matters, Do it right, Make it better, Do it together

  • Embrace diversity of thought, experience, and backgrounds

  • Adherence to the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics

  • Facilitate local business inclusion across operations

  • Community Investment Support (processing grants) in alignment with the Social Investment Strategy and Focus Areas

  • Provide applicable inputs and support towards Progressive Aboriginal Relations (PAR) requirements

  • Adhere to StakeTracker governance structure and data management objectives.

  • Ensure the accurate and timely processing of agreement payments

  • Retain/create current and accurate business listings and support business inclusion planning

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

  • High school diploma

  • Post-secondary certificate or diploma in a related field

  • Professional association member, professional accreditation is an asset

  • Seven to ten years of relevant, cumulative experience in regulatory applications, consultation, Indigenous engagement, community investment or community engagement

  • Experience identifying stakeholder interests

  • An understanding of the oil and gas industry, preferably the provincial regulatory requirements specific to Indigenous consultation guidelines

  • Experience with Indigenous communities is preferred

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Self- starter, capable of working independently

  • Critical thinking and problem solving

  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

  • Valid Canadian Driver's License
