Technical responsibilities:

  • Execute day-to-day technical and strategic mandates based on areas of expertise and in coordination with BBA's internal disciplines located across Canada
  • Deliver protection and design solutions: Equipment and Design specifications, detail design, vendor bid evaluation, factory acceptance testing, vendor drawing review
  • Develop HV/MV designs: single lines, layouts, BOMs, schematics, wiring
  • Relay design, settings, configurations for various applications (line, transformer, cap banks, etc.)
  • Perform system studies: short circuit, load flow, interconnection, protection, etc.
  • Provide expertise and guidance both to BBA's clients and to project teams
  • Conduct technical reviews and oversee engineering and design activities.

Project management responsibilities:

  • Lead various design phases of projects: proposal development, design development, design basis, detail design
  • Mentor junior engineers
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with key stakeholders in the renewables, industrial and utility sectors across Canada and abroad
  • Provide exposure to potential new clients and expand relationships with existing clients
  • Support execution of BBA strategy and action plan


Overview of certifications and job requirements

  • Electrical Engineering degree and registered as a Professional in Canada
  • 12 years of experience, specializing in Protection Engineering
  • Experience within large industrial, power generation and utility sectors
  • Demonstrated experience with different vendors and different protection schemes
  • Strong communications, interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Demonstrated ability to perform widely varied tasks and meet widely varied challenges
  • Proven knowledge of project-management practices
  • Working knowledge of electrical design standards (CSA, IEEE, ANSI/IEC)
