About this opportunity:
The Christina Lake Geoscience Development team is looking for a motivated and curious Senior Geologist to join our team. Reporting to the Manager, Christina Lake Geoscience Development, the selected individual will be accountable to work in a multi-disciplinary team to ensure reservoir development plans are optimized to meet Cenovus business needs, enable the successful execution of our development plans, and support our long-term strategy.
What you'll do:
Support the integration of surface and subsurface development through a wholistic lens to progress optimal development layouts
Ensure consistency in development practices while fostering effective communication across disciplines
Plan and support the annual delineation program to appraise and delineate potential resource for future thermal development
Work with the reservoir development engineering team to steward new well pads through the stage gate process and provide key inputs into engineering design and development decisions
Work with well delivery teams to prepare for and execute the drilling of SAGD well pads which include on-call responsibilities to optimize lateral trajectories
Ensure that future pad layouts and resource estimates are updated annually to support the Long-Range Outlook process.
Support workflow optimization projects with the intent of improving geoscience and reservoir engineering workflows and outputs
Prepare documentation and presentations for technical reviews, lookbacks, and knowledge shares
Who you are:
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:
Legally authorized to work in Canada
Professional Geoscientist with APEGA would be considered advantageous
10+ years of geoscience experience with preference being given to candidates with SAGD thermal development experience
Strong experience in project management and/or asset development
Executional experience would be an asset
Experience using Petrel would be an asset
Models the values of Cenovus in all interactions and activities
