Join our Market Design team to help shape the future of the electricity industry in Alberta. We are looking for a new member to join our team to bring fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and a passion for driving positive change in the evolving electricity market landscape.
As a Senior Market Design Analyst, you'll be instrumental in crafting the blueprint for our market's future. You will apply your expertise in economics, business, or engineering to dive deep into the development and support of key components of Alberta's electricity market design. Collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders, you'll have the chance to make a tangible impact as we navigate these transformational times.

Key aspects of the role:
Engage with external stakeholders from industry, agencies and government to develop market design solutions
Collaborate across business areas to reach comprehensive identification and acceptance of wholesale electricity market design elements
Assess and evaluate economic efficiency impacts, market impacts, stakeholder impacts, operational impacts and AESO process implications of wholesale electricity market design alternatives
Research various economic, technical and policy aspects of wholesale electricity market design best practices and their implementation in other jurisdictions
Identify and communicate wholesale electricity market design alternatives and their implications in written and verbal form (memos, reports, presentations)
Ensure coordination and consistency with other wholesale electricity market design streams as well as broader market design initiatives
Support the development of regulatory proceedings to approve rules supporting the introduction of new market design elements
What you'll bring to us:
BA in Economics or related field; Master's would be an asset
6-8+ years of experience in electricity markets
Strong understanding of the current electricity market framework in Alberta
