The Opportunity

We have a unique opportunity for an experienced and motivated Senior Engineer or Certified/Professional Technologist to join our Pipe Integrity - Damage Prevention Encroachment's team. In this role, you will be part of a high-performing group of engineers, technologists, and analysts who strive to enhance the safety and protection of TC Energy's infrastructure. You will collaborate with multiple internal and external stakeholders, such as vendors, pipeline operators, and regulators, to plan and execute Damage Prevention activities on TC Energy's pipeline assets.

Reporting to the Pipe Integrity Encroachments lead, you will contribute to a team of high-performing engineers and technologists dedicated to improving the safety and protection of TC Energy's Canadian and US pipeline assets. This role provides unique exposure as you work closely with landowners, vendors, other pipeline operators, and regulators.

What you'll do

  • Oversee and support the development and implementation of TC Energy's Damage Prevention Programs
  • Lead the execution of damage prevention activities, including third-party damage incidents, unauthorized activities, right-of-way brushing, one-calls, and support for right-of-way field activities
  • Analyze data, identify trends, and implement short- and long-term plans for ongoing improvements
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to damage prevention
  • Provide technical leadership in engineering analysis and risk mitigation
  • Mentor junior engineers and students
  • Proactively identify risks and develop strategies to prevent incidents
  • Prepare regular reports for senior management and stakeholders
  • Participate in industry working groups (e.g., CGA, CCGA)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of related Damage Prevention, Engineering, Technology, Construction/Field, or Regulatory experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a Diploma in Engineering Technology is an asset
  • For degreed Engineers, you must be registered, or eligible to be registered, as a professional engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA in good standing
  • Candidates with a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) designation or a P.Tech. (Eng.) designation with an appropriate scope of practice, with ASET, may be considered at a different level
  • Professional experience in Pipeline Integrity, Project Management, and/or Damage Prevention roles
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a track record of task completion and change leadership
  • Excellent communication (written and oral), time management, decision-making, and negotiation skills
  • Experience in audit, assurance, and regulatory engagements
  • Participation in industry collaboration and working groups
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute effectively in a team environment

This position requires candidates to:

  • have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (record) for review.
  • Overnight travel for meetings and field visits may be required (up to 10%).
