About this opportunity:
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Mid/Long Range Planning, the Senior Value Chain Planning Engineer is a key value chain team member that is responsible for generating and publishing the monthly Short Term Operating Plan (STOP) for the Lloydminster Complex. Responsible for leading outside the asset gate short term optimization opportunities including identification, evaluation, and development, using adhoc and sensitivity analysis.
What you'll do:
Collaborate with Backcasting and Optimization Engineer (CVC) to compile rolling 4-month Short Term Operating Plan (STOP), ensuring alignment with asset process feasibility as well as enhancing the value chain model
Generate the Lloydminster Upgrader and Refinery nominations for Trading, Supply and HMGP using the STOP
Collaborate with value chain stakeholders to ensure optimal representative operating plan is generated
Identify, evaluate, and develop short-term and/or in-month profitability optimization opportunities; both within and outside of asset gate, including generating any necessary sensitivity analysis
Use the Value Chain model to run economic sensitivities on opportunities and facilitate their development and implementation
Perform monthly and ad-hoc break-even analysis on asset products for Supply, Marketing and Trading teams
Organize, prepare and facilitate monthly Value Chain Operating Plan Draft meetings
Facilitate weekly Value Chain Short Term Opportunity meetings
Who you are:
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:
Legally authorized to work in Canada
8+ years experience in Refining, Downstream Supply or Production business environment
Degree in Engineering, Chemical Engineering preferred
Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with APEGA/APEGS
Experience with planning tools such as ASPEN PIMS, AVEVA Spiral, PETRO, etc. is required, with experience in AVEVA Spiral preferred
Understanding of refinery unit processes is required
Expertise in both running and interpreting results from an LP
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; strong problem-solving skills.
Proven understanding of Refining and/or Upgrading economics is required, and ability to understand the commercial complexity of a refinery as well as direct organizations to optimize assets
Commercial experience within both a refinery and marketing environment
Previous work experience in Process Engineering, Economics, Scheduling, or Supply/trading is considered an asset
Understanding of crude supply logistics and trading, product marketing and logistics, and understanding of refinery economics an asset
