About this opportunity:
This role will provide front line technical engineering support to maintenance and operation personnel by ensuring produced technical results are of high standard and align with Cenovus specifications, processes, and industry standards. As a Staff Facilities Engineering/Technologist, you will scope and design Process Controls (Automation) projects, respond to inquiry and develop Engineering Work Packages that details technical design and execution of change.
As a subject matter expert in Process Controls (Automation), you will collaborate with the Manager of Facilities Engineering support early engagement, plan, coordinate, and provide technical guidance in facility optimization projects. This collaboration will involve working with different engineering disciplines.
What you'll do:
Scope, solution and deliver Process Controls (Automation) engineering work packages to support day-to-day break fixes and long-term facility optimization projects (i.e. high complexity and high value)
Review project request intake, assess, scope, and steward approval and prioritization
Assist the manager in evaluating CTCHO alignment opportunities and identifying technical development gaps for engineering work packages
Collaborate in planning and developing work processes to improve efficiency in MOC execution within the ICE team
Help junior engineers thrive by providing technical guidance and creating a supportive environment for learning and development within the ICE team
Work closely with / act as the primary contact for partner subject area teams to analyze, define, and prioritize requests in alignment with business goals
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to develop technical solution while achieving the best outcome for Cenovus
Participates and Facilitates risk assessments, ensure compliance to Cenovus risk-based culture
Compliance and Assurance of Cenovus COIMs Element 3 - Risk Management, Element 6 - Management of Change, and Element 10 - Project Delivery
Support Manager with delegated accountabilities and tasks
Who you are:
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:
Legally authorized to work in Canada
University degree in Engineering preferred but technologist with extensive experience in process controls will be considered
P. Eng. / PL Eng. designation from APEGA and APEGS
12 to 18 years of experience in the design, implementation, commissioning, and operation of SAGD assets
Extensive knowledge in facilities engineering, including turnaround, asset management, and hazard awareness, with expertise in industry codes and standards for Instrumentation, Process Controls, and Electrical (i.e. ISA, CSA, CEC, API)
Proven experience in Process Control Systems (Automation/OT) integration, with strong knowledge of industry norms and standard processes for oil sands control systems
Experience in deploying Alarm Management for "brown field" facilities, facility automation systems (DCS, PLC, SCADA) and measurement system design, codes, and implementation is considered an asset
Preference will be given to candidates with experience on ABB DCS, Honeywell Experion DCS, Delta V and Allen-Bradley PLC's
Strong interest in coaching and mentoring individuals and teams
