Summary: To ensure the equipment is optimized, safe and within recipe so that product meets customer quality specifications. Complete all testing in a timely manner and enter the system so the data can be used in real time. Keep areas clean and report any deviations in production or equipment to supervision.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Operate all equipment pertaining to the Fryer area (including the fryer, blancher, ingredient station, dryer) in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Safe operation of various processes involved in the byline including the peeler, blancher, retrograde, fryer and other associated equipment.
  • Makes processing adjustments in order to maintain product specification.
  • Maintains fat, heat, and speed levels of the fryer.
  • Monitors product color, texture, shape, weight, and controls waste.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and sanitation practices in the byline and mainline area including boiler outs, 5S, and routinely scheduled tasks.
  • Formulates proper ingredient mixtures for addition to the product.
  • Performs blanch tests to determine whether or not the product is sufficiently blanched.
  • Performs sugar analysis testing.
  • Performs blancher/dryer/fryer weight loss tests to determine what impact processing changes will have on the final product specification.
  • Works closely with Production Supervision.
  • Maintains all required documentation using SPC.
  • Maintains good housekeeping in the area / HPC when necessary to clean vibes and belts of buildup and debris.
  • Performing required daily tests to ensure product quality, consistency, and determine equipment effectiveness. Then recording results into the designated McCain database to drive Real Time Management and support data analysis. (if necessary)
  • Communication with QC to ensure that product quality is consistent and correct any deviations.
  • Be involved in 8:00,11:00 and 4:00 MDI tours to give feedback online and settings.
  • Clean the fryer rails a minimum of three times a shift to reduce buildup and decrease the potential of a fire hazard.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (Competencies)

  • Familiar OCAP and basic computer skills.
  • Able to exercise good judgment in making decisions to the operation of a production line and have proven history of safe work habits.
  • Mechanically inclined and able to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment problems.
  • Familiarity with Statistical Process Control software (InfinityQS) and general production requirements is an asset.
  • Experienced with the safe handling of chemicals in accordance with WHMIS.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize efficiently using effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Thorough understanding of WHMIS, plant sanitation requirements, industrial chemicals, and HACCP and AIB Gold standards.
  • Able to work in a high humidity, high temperature work environment.
  • Experienced with the safe handling of chemicals in accordance with WHMIS.
  • Must have strong communication skills, ability to follow detailed instructions, and be able to maintain good working relationships with Supervision and coworkers as well as ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Mathematical ability to perform basic calculations.
  • Familiarity with Statistical Process Control software (InfinityQS) and SAP data entry.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize efficiently using effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Must be willing to work in a team-based atmosphere.
  • Physically capable of performing all required duties including lifting up to 50lbs at low level and 40lbs at waist level.
  • Must be willing to successfully complete Confined Space & Rescue, Forklift and Emergency First Aid, fire watch and fire extinguisher training.
  • Must be able to operate this equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Must be a member of the Fire Containment Team and Emergency Response Team. May be called upon to use extinguisher to disperse small containable fires.

  • Able to work in a high humidity, high temperature work environment.
  • Physically capable of performing job duties including lifting objects up to 40-50lbs.

Hourly Rate

  • Start rate: $ 33.23
  • After 6 months: $ 34.05
