About this opportunity:
The Maintenance Technician, Electrical Utilities is fundamental in providing safety leadership and nurturing a safety minded culture. Leading the execution of all maintenance activities on the Christina Lake high voltage system, the successful candidate will facilitate and maintain 24/7 on call coverage for high voltage emergencies and be the designated operating authority in charge of system operations.

This is a full-time employee position working a shift of 12hrs per day, 8 days on, 6 days off. Wednesday to Wednesday.
Christina Lake has full-service camp facilities.
Depending on your place of residence and your shift rotation, bus and/or air transportation to/from site is offered from designated departure points in select locations.
Christina Lake is serviced by flight Hubs in Calgary and Edmonton as well as bus transportation to site from La Corey, AB. and Lac La Biche, AB
What you'll do:
Provide on-call and after hours support for operations and maintenance activities and upsets
Supervise and implement activities that are vital to making repairs, replacing, adjusting, and modifying equipment
Use troubleshooting skills and our current CMMS system to address equipment failures and other found work
Ensure effective daily communication with coordinators, planners, operations, maintenance personnel and contract staff and provide status updates regarding job schedules and tasks
Provide technical support for personnel when interpreting job plans, as-built drawings, and single line diagrams
Contribute to the development of job plans, estimates and scheduling of trade work activities
Collaborate with warehouse personnel to ensure effective utilization of warehouse inventory
Provide support for drilling and completions by supplying "high line" power connections and disconnect as required, serving as the primary point of contact for on-site trades and contract personnel, regarding ongoing and scheduled high voltage tasks
Who you are:
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:
Legally authorized to work in Canada
Power system electrician, Journeyman certification or Power system technician with a journeyman certification (Electrical)
8 years or more of relevant experience
Substation, utility, power generation and MCC experience
Experience servicing/maintaining transformers, circuit breakers and motor control systems
Experience with microprocessing relays
We acknowledge the value of transferrable skills and may consider equivalent combinations of experience and education should you not meet a specific requirement
As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.
For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 drivers license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.
