Cenovus's SWU E/I & Electrical Utilities team is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join their team!
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for effectively maintaining, calibrating, verifying, and inspecting all instrumentation equipment throughout the facility. This position supports the Maintenance team with the common goal of meeting operations maintenance requirements.
While this vacancy is currently at Christina Lake, this posting could be used to fill vacancies at any of the three Oil Sands Operations sites (Christina Lake, Foster Creek, or Sunrise, based on business need).
Work Environment:
CHRISTINA LAKE
This is a full-time employee position working a shift of 12 hrs per day, 8 days on, 6 days off. Wednesday to Wednesday, days, and rotating evening callouts shifts as required
Christina Lake has full-service camp facilities
Depending on your place of residence and your shift rotation, bus and/or air transportation to/from site is offered from designated departure points in select locations.
Christina Lake is serviced by flight Hubs in Calgary and Edmonton as well as bus transportation to site from La Corey, AB. and Lac La Biche, AB
What you'll do:
Perform analysis, trouble-shooting, repairs and functional testing on pneumatic and electronic devices and associated communications infrastructure related to all instrumentation equipment
Knowledge of Process Control, Valve Rebuilding, Analyzers, Device Calibrations, Communicators, SAP
Conduct or coordinate preventative and corrective repairs on all instrumentation and related components in plant and field facilities
Maintain effective contact with operations and provide technical advice where applicable
Assist other operations groups in the commissioning of related equipment following repair/replacement
Maintain awareness of changes to equipment requirements that are relevant to the execution of facility maintenance and new equipment installations
Examine/update instrument drawings, shutdown keys and datasheets
Align with all approved maintenance standard processes and procedures
Follow the prioritization and classification system for work order completion
Participate in the process to identify parts for spare parts inventory requirements
Actively engage in major overhauls and turnaround / shutdown activities, submit work orders/requests of potential work or opportunity work that is related to shutdown/turnaround
Respond to emergency situations as necessary and escalate communication of issues and their resolution as appropriate
Who you are:
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:
Legally authorized to work in Canada
Must possess Alberta (or Interprovincial) Journeyperson status in the Instrumentation trade with a minimum of 5 years' experience in a Journeyperson role
5+ years of experience preferably in the Oil and Gas industry
Proven experience in negotiating complex solutions from conflicting priorities
Self-motivated individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced team-oriented environment
Ability to demonstrate a commitment to team objectives relating to safety, the environment and productivity
Strong organizational, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently are required
The following training /certifications are considered an asset:
Dual Ticketed instrumentation/electrical status
Knowledge with either cyclic and or SAGD Thermal Oil recovery processes

As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.
For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.
