NAIT's Welding Apprenticeship program combines advanced technical knowledge, welding skills, and exposure to modern technologies to give a graduate a competitive edge into a career in welding. From skills in fabrication to product innovation and inspection methods, students will gain foundational skills that are in-demand by industry.

The program is currently recruiting for a salaried instructor who is an energetic leader, committed to student success, and have outstanding communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and present learning outcomes and activities in a classroom, laboratory and industry setting

  • Participate in curriculum development, program reviews and course reviews

  • Facilitate the learning process by utilizing instructional strategies that ensure efficient and effective delivery of course materials

  • Manage instructional delivery and set the tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environment

  • Create assessment tools to evaluate the learning process and maintain progress records

  • Provide early and on-going coaching and tutoring for students to maximize student success and retention

  • Respond to student issues

  • Utilize appropriate educational technology for presentations, communications and program promotions

  • Maintenance and/or submission of program/student records accurately and promptly

  • Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students, colleagues, and industry partners

  • Actively participate in the strategies of NAIT's Strategic Plan and NAIT's Academic Plan as identified by the institute

  • Utilize regular student feedback to identify and implement instructional improvement

  • Improve the quality of instruction through professional development activities

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma

  • Completion of a Welding Journeyperson certificate, B Pressure and Inter-Provincial Red Seal required

  • Welding Automation training and experience would be an asset

  • Minimum 5 years recent industry experience after completion of Journeyperson ticket

  • Teaching experience an asset

NOTE: Candidates who are successful in the interview process will be required to perform practical testing components related to the technical portion of the position.


Remuneration: Will commensurate with education and experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package.

Instructor salary grid $65,218.00 - $113,452.00 annually. However, starting salary for new hires averages between $78,998.00 - $85,889.00 annually based on education and experience with room for negotiations. (Classification - Instructor).

This position is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective Agreement.
