The Carpentry program provides apprentices with the skills to construct, erect and repair residential, commercial, and institutional building structures, work on heavy duty construction projects and renovate and maintain structures.
NAIT's Construction program is currently recruiting instructors who are energetic leaders, committed to student success, and have outstanding communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
The successful candidate will:
Have strong technical knowledge in Carpentry fundamentals.
Have technical knowledge and experience in commercial and industrial construction.
Be able to work both independently and within a team environment.
Bring passion, enthusiasm, and ideas that will positively contribute to the advancement and growth of the program and the culture of our collaborative and dynamic team.
Have a deep-rooted commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and present learning outcomes and activities in a classroom, lab/shop and industry setting
Participate in curriculum development, program reviews and course reviews
Facilitate the learning process utilizing instructional strategies ensuring efficient and effective delivery of course materials
Manage instructional delivery setting the tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environment
Create assessment tools to evaluate the learning process and maintain progress records
Provide early and on-going coaching and tutoring for students to maximize student success and retention
Respond to student difficulties
Utilize appropriate educational technology for presentations, communications and program promotions
Maintenance and/or submission of program/student records accurately and promptly
Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students, colleagues, and industry partners
Actively participate in the strategies of NAIT's Strategic Plan and NAIT's Academic Plan as identified by the institute
Utilize regular student feedback to identify and implement instructional improvement
Improve the quality of instruction through professional development activities
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Minimum requirements are a relevant Journeyman Certification
Inter-provincial Red Seal required
Minimum 5 years recent industry experience after completion of Journeyperson ticket
Recent commercial/industrial construction experience
Teaching experience would be an asset
Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).
Remuneration: Will commensurate with education and experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
Instructor salary grid $65,218.00 - $113,452.00 annually. However, starting salary for new hires averages between $78,998.00 - $85,889.00 annually based on education and experience with room for negotiations. (Classification - Instructor).
This position is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective Agreement
