  • Carry out commissioning, maintenance, and corrective actions on utility substation or generation station protection and control systems
  • Monitor worksite projects being carried out at our clients’ facilities
  • Serve in various roles, including project, proposal, and site work leader
  • Assist in implementing new apparatus, protection, and SCADA systems for substation projects
  • Working in outdoor environments in remote locations
  • Apply established work methods and ensure their improvement
  • Provide protection system support for clients remotely or onsite
  • Develop commission protection and control systems on site and within the BBA digital power systems laboratories nationally

Summary of certifications and job requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma (technologist) in one of the following areas: electrical engineering, telecommunications, or any other relevant training
  • 3-7 years of relevant experience in electrical apparatus maintenance, protection relay and control systems testing
  • Demonstrated working in operational and brownfield experience with industrial and utility systems
  • Must be comfortable working in severe weather conditions (hot and cold), driving on winter roads, in remote locations, and on forest service roads
  • Must be comfortable working in remote locations with limited means of communication
  • Must be able to consistently lift 50lbs
  • Available to travel to our BBA offices across Canada
  • Available for short- and long-term work assignments at client sites in Canada
  • Asset: Inter-Provincial Construction Electrician, Power Systems Electrician, or relevant electrical apprenticeship tickets
  • Asset: Bilingual (English and French)
  • Asset: Experience in power control systems for generation and renewable energy sectors
  • Asset: Knowledge and use of different standard protocols like DNP3, Modbus and IEC 61850 within industrial or utility applications
