We're currently hiring for a 1-year contract Health and Safety Advisor for our manufacturing Edmonton plant. There's more to any job than words on a page, but the focus of this role is to provide Health and Safety leadership, support, and recommendations to all employees, supervisors/managers, and contractors within the departments of manufacturing. On any given day, the Health and Safety Advisor is responsible for:

  • Maintains positive and professional working relationships.
  • Ensure the Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance and Engineering meet the assigned COR standards and compliance, while conducting annual internal COR audits.
  • Preform new hire orientation and provide necessary training as mandated by job duties or legislation.
  • Schedule, perform and or track all safety inspections, completing follow up where required.
  • Responsible for monitoring adherence to the All Weather at Home health & safety program by all employees and contractors.
  • Evaluate submissions made by All Weather leadership into Intelex of contractors requiring an annual pre-qualification documentation review.
  • Support all supervisory groups in the incident investigation process and hold the team accountable to quality, timely completion of incident/injury.
  • Assist in field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHA) when required.
  • Support the Manufacturing Residential Joint Health & Safety Committee.
  • Support the annual review of analyzing incident and injury data for the Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance and Engineering Identifying, and preparing trending reports for the leading and lagging indicators, following up on any noted.
  • Responsible for training and supporting supervisors/managers in understanding and following OH&S standards & requirements.
  • Ensure Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) are current and available for the Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance and Engineering.
  • Ensure Emergency Response Plans are current, communicated and that drills are run annually in all areas that are assigned.
  • Lead and support monthly safety meetings.
  • Support the WCB Claims Management process.
  • Educate and train leadership on how to pull and review H&S performance statistics in Intelex.

  • Post-Secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety management and/ or equivalent.
  • National Construction Safety Officer Designation (NCSO) or Manufacturing Safety Officer (MSO)
  • Standard First Aider.
  • Certified ACSA COR Auditor.
  • Minimum 3 years' Health & Safety experience working in a manufacturing/plant environment.
  • Minimum 3 years related safety field experience.
  • Experience conducting external/internal safety audits.
  • Experience working in a culturally diverse environment.
  • Must be a leader of safety excellence, resourceful, organized and understand the principles of Health and Safety Management, WCB claims management, industry best practice and provincial H&S legislation.
  • Strong attention to detail, effective communication skills; confident interacting with key contacts in verbal, written and electronic form.
  • Must display a high level of autonomy in order to prioritize work tasks and deliver results.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated willingness to contribute actively to team activities, sharing experiences and ideas.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments with tight timelines.
  • Ability to identify problems/issues, generate solutions, resolve conflict, and make sound decisions.
  • Must have a valid Alberta drivers' license and clean Driver's Abstract.
  • Must pass pre-employment Drug & Alcohol Testing.
