Our Facilities Services Team currently has an opportunity as a Maintenance Worker III that is ideal for an energetic and highly motivated individual with superior customer service skills.

Your Maintenance Worker III responsibilities:

  • Effectively operates, repairs, and maintains base building systems and equipment to provide a safe, healthy, and comfortable work environment in support of the delivery of WCB programs and services.
  • Performs extensive preventative maintenance activities to avert the premature failure of systems and equipment and/or untimely failures which would result in increased repair costs, loss of essential building services or disruptions resulting in the loss of staff productivity.
  • Completes general carpentry tasks and repairs
  • Coordinates the activities of mechanical or electrical contractors involved in base building repairs and upgrades. Monitors the performance of contractors involved in renovations work and reconfigurations to ensure work is being performed safely and to WCB standards. Commissions and troubleshoots systems to identify warranty issues.
  • Provides technical advice and information on code related issues, best practices, and procedures for working on sensitive systems such as the Data Centre UPS, fire alarms, sprinkler equipment and generator.
  • On call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to respond to emergencies (on-call rotation).
  • Adheres to all policies and practices for performing work in a safe and healthy manner. Job involves working with high voltage electrical systems, complex mechanical equipment, natural gas, steam, large and/or high speed rotating equipment, confined spaces, chemicals and biohazards.
  • Oversees water treatment program.
  • Responds to emergency situations.
  • Completes Facility Service Requests (FSR's).

Your experience and skills:

  • 5th Class Power Engineer Certification is required.
  • Minimum of seven years' experience in building operations, repair and maintenance of high-rise office towers.
  • Experience in the areas of HVAC pneumatic and direct digital control systems.
  • Experience and/or knowledge in carpentry is a definite asset.
  • Knowledge of UPS systems and data centre environmental controls.
  • Knowledge of all related Codes including Building Codes and Fire Codes.
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and WHMIS.
  • Familiar with safety and environmental concerns in storage and disposal of cleaning chemicals.
  • Project management and contract administration skills.
  • WHMIS Certification, CPR/First Aid, Respirator Certificate, Driver Training, and Mess Kit Training are required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to function within a team setting.
  • Must be able to work efficiently and effectively. The ability to prioritize and complete tasks within set timeframes is crucial to the success of the team.

Salary: Pay Grade 8 $57,910 to $68,085 per annum
