This exciting role provides key leadership functions to the Maintenance, Space Planning and Facility Services teams. Through developing and maintaining long-range planning to support programs and projects, this role is pivotal in ensuring our buildings are safe, efficient, and comfortable for our employees and clients.

Your Manager, Facility Services responsibilities include:

  • Provides leadership and guidance to the facility services, space planning and maintenance teams, working closely with the direct leaders to create a positive and collaborative culture.
  • Leads the development and implementation of an asset management framework, which includes strategic planning, long-range facility needs assessments, and a multi-year corporate space planning and facilities project plan.
  • Plans and manages building space allocations, space planning/design, and construction projects.
  • Plans and manages building maintenance/upgrades that are scheduled as a part of a facility management plan.
  • Participates in the planning of facility operating and capital budgets to support corporate and departmental goals and objectives.
  • Establishes corporate standards for facilities in collaboration with internal partners, including security and data centre requirements.
  • Ensures all owned and leased facilities meet or exceed all legislated and other safety requirements to minimize risk and provide a safe and healthy environment for all employees, visitors and other WCB clients as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible.
  • Develops and manages a strategy for building systems, services and equipment to plan for ongoing maintenance, with identification of faults and provision of costs for budgetary purposes.
  • Leads facility emergency response requirements in coordination with the Director and in alignment with the business continuity program.
  • Manages the processes to ensure building and maintenance records are prepared and updated including an asset register, operating and maintenance manuals and record drawings.

Your experience and skills:

  • You must be a strong leader with highly developed planning, project management and organizational skills. A proven problem solver and decision-maker that understands and can translate complex, multi-faceted issues into concise plans of action. You will be an effective communicator and relationship builder with the ability to collaborate, negotiate, influence and use diplomacy with clients, vendors, and colleagues.

Technical requirements include:

  • At least 10 years progressively responsible experience in space planning, facility maintenance (including preventive maintenance), property, equipment and contract management.
  • Degree in business or public administration or P.Eng designation or equivalent experience and education is preferred.
  • RPA Professional certification (Real Property Administrator), CPM (Certified Property Manager), CFM (Certified Facilities Manager), PMP (Project Management Professional) is preferred.
  • Knowledge of building codes, fire codes, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and WHMIS.
  • Knowledge in the areas of financial planning and control, and strategic decision making.
  • Strong leadership, team building, and mentoring skills.
  • Knowledge of commercial real estate, leasing, project planning, project management, systems planning/development, and financial analysis.
  • Understanding of organizational requirements and best practices in the areas of quality management, health and safety, legal compliance, environmental policies and general duty of care.
  • An effective communicator and relationship builder with the ability to negotiate, influence and use diplomacy with clients, vendors and colleagues and staff at all levels.
  • Ability to analyze, evaluate and assess the validity and relevance of information in order to draw appropriate conclusions and make necessary recommendations.
  • Strong communication and writing skills with the ability to prepare and deliver presentations to senior management, staff and external parties.

Salary: Grade 15 Start Rate: $122,959.00 to Job Rate: $153,672.00
