The Manager, Track Quality is responsible for the identification and development of CN's Capital Programs. The role is required to utilize CN's capital planning tools and technologies. In addition, the incumbent works closely with the regions to develop optimized capital programs.
· Create data-driven (e.g., Autonomous Track Inspection Program (ATIP), Track Inspection System (TIS), Rail Flaw Detection (RFD) capital plans which incorporate field input and establish project priorities at a system level
· Define and evaluate projects using multiple parameters, including risk-based criteria
· Collaborate with Chiefs, Assistant Chiefs, Senior Managers and Track supervisors to collect the required information to develop short, medium, and long-term capital plans
· Understand track standards and industry best practices to deploy the right solutions for the renewal of materials and track infrastructure
· Conduct field audits to validate asset health, capital requests, and capital plans
· Participate in off-territory inspections
· Provide oversight on lubricator performance, prioritization of capital installations, material and product recommendations, vendor engagement, and materials
· Complete consistent follow-up in the field
· Work with Engineering Finance to assist in accurate project estimates
· Work with Regions and Marketing to provide estimates for upgrades
· Assist regional teams with asset data, project planning and capital budgets
The role is performed in a combination of office and outdoor environments in various types of weather conditions with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. The role requires frequent travel (up to 60%) within North America. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, and handle pressure and stress.
Track or Program Supervisor
· Minimum 5 years of railway Experience
o Experience with budgeting
o Experience with track inspections
· High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED)
· Certified in Track Inspection Guidelines (TIGS)
· Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR) and United States Operating Rules (USOR) Certified
· Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Business*
