Key position functions include:

• Develop and maintain specifications and documentation for materials, welding, heat treatments, elastomers, thermoplastics, coatings, claddings and surface treatments.
• Collaborate and support Engineering with materials and welding issues as related to design.
• Provide recommendations on material selection based on operating conditions and material damage mechanisms.
• Review material deviation requests against specifications, design considerations and application requirement to determine acceptability.
• Conduct B-Pressure welder renewal tests in compliance with ASME IX.
• Develop and review welding procedure specifications in compliance with ASME IX.
• Provide technical support to research and testing related to materials science and welding.
• Support Global sourcing with technical vendor audits.
• Interact with customers and suppliers on issues related to materials science.
• Review vendor lab results and procedures for special processes, including surface treatments, coatings, plating, and heat treatments.

Preferred candidates will possess a combination of the following:

• Technical degree or diploma in materials or metallurgy from a recognized University or Technical Institute.
• Membership with APEGA or eligible to get membership.
• Minimum 4 years' experience in materials engineering.
• Strong interpersonal skills - ability to create accountability, commitment, and cooperation towards achieving objectives.
• Understanding of standards organizations and relevant regulations ASME, AISI, API, ISO, ABSA, CSA, AWS.
• Strong presentation and customer service skills.
