Job Purpose

The Rent-Ready Facilitator is responsible for delivering educational courses aimed at preparing individuals for successful renting experiences. This role involves facilitating engaging training sessions, workshops, and seminars that equip participants with essential skills and knowledge for securing and maintaining rental housing. The facilitator will ensure course content is delivered effectively, supporting participant learning and retention.

Duties and Responsibilities

Program Delivery

  • Lead engaging and interactive, trauma-informed sessions for groups on topics such as tenant and landlord rights, lease agreements, budgeting for rent, property maintenance responsibilities, and conflict resolution with landlords.
  • Actively engage with Community Space guests, promoting participation in rent-readiness sessions and building trust within the community.
  • Provide one-on-one guidance to participants when necessary, assisting with housing applications, referrals to supportive services, and connecting them with local housing resources.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where participants feel encouraged to participate and ask questions.
  • Work with program coordinators and subject matter experts to ensure course material is accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with local housing laws.
  • Maintain detailed records of attendance, course completion, and participant feedback for reporting purposes.
  • Provide direct support/referrals to low-income participants during Rent Ready and Community Space in-reach hours.
  • Develop and distribute informational materials for front line workers and participants.
  • Monitor and evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs) for the 5 key financial interventions (above).
  • Work with partner agencies to support a collaborative approach to Rent Ready in the City of Edmonton.

General and Administrative

  • Funding reports and data entry.
  • Administrative support.
  • Attend meetings with funders and partners.
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Diploma or degree in Social Work, Business Management, Education, Project Management, or other relevant education and/or experience.
  • Minimum 2-year relevant employment experience including program development, relevant case management or project management.
  • Experience and training in financial literacy or financial empowerment will be considered an asset.
  • Experience in facilitation, teaching, or training, particularly in adult education or community programs.
  • Knowledge of rental processes, tenant rights, and housing-related financial literacy.
  • Candidates holding a Social Work Degree or Diploma are required to be registered and in good standing with the ACSW.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, result oriented, applied time management, strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity and an understanding of Indigenous cultures & history.
  • Familiarity with issues of poverty, homelessness, and Edmonton's urban core. As well working with high-risk populations.
  • Demonstrate high competency in computer systems (Word, Excel, Outlook, and database programs).
