Position Summary:

Senior Quality Assurance Technician is responsible to train and supervise Salaried QA Technicians. Ensure that tasks are conducted consistently, efficiently and meet the needs of the business. Responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance of all quality assurance, and HACCP programs. Responsible for food safety and regulatory compliance to ensure that the objectives for food safety and regulatory compliance meet or exceed regulatory agency's requirements, company standards, and customer requirements.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Investigate QA/FS Issues. Work with cross functional team to ensure proper completion of NCRs and Supplier Incidents (i.e identify root cause, corrective actions, preventative measures and effectiveness checks)
  • Verification of HOLD and RELEASE.
  • Issue and follow-up on daily QA shift report and HOLD Report.
  • Planning QA staffing requirements according to staffing levels and production demands, including approving of Over Time hours on a weekly basis and vacation scheduling.
  • Coordinate in house lab testing schedules and procedures as required.
  • Maintain, update and ensure consistent execution of current QA programs and internal SOPs.
  • Assist with HACCP and BRC's program updates, maintenance, verifications and function as a cross-functional liaison to ensure the plant is meeting regulatory and compliance requirements for all stakeholders.
  • Assist with third party audits (HACCP, CVS, BRC's, or customer)
  • Manage Customer Complaints ie. review with cross functional team, follow up and issue any corrective actions, timely responses to the CSR.
  • Ensure that pest control program is being maintained and liaise with operator to ensure that all BRC's and regulatory items are being met.
  • Review of Raw Material Specifications and Customer Specifications and ensure conformance.
  • Developing a constructive work environment through excellent interpersonal, team building skills, open communications, encouraging input
  • Maintaining an attitude of continuous process improvement and training of employees at hourly and salary levels.
  • Take lead on executing various initiatives to improve the quality and safety of our process and products.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Food Science or a related discipline/experience and a minimum of three to five years of proven food safety experience in Quality Assurance.
  • Microbiology knowledge and understanding is required.
  • Strong knowledge of GMP.
  • HACCP Certification and strong knowledge of Statistical Process Control, GMPs, Quality regulatory requirements and systems
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook.
